Description
It is in my nature as a student of biology to possess an urge to know the internal workings of a given living organism. Especially one so preposterous as a naga, which is generally known in popular culture as a half-human half-snake being. Thus is my design for the bodyplan of my faithful OC, Eve. Sketchy drawing but fun in a weird way... I must be related to Hanji Zoe-Organs extend into lower body; proper tail begins after cloacal opening
-Big stomach for eating lots
-Small left lung, and enlarged right lung as seen in snakes
-Heart pumps faster than expected for a creature so large to compensate for relatively small size; however heart rate depends on temperature as Eve's species is poikilothermic
-No venom apparatus
-Uterus can expand to more than thrice regular size to facilitate pregnancy
-Unlike real snakes, the end of the tail is utilized as a weapon and for that purpose is plated with large scales

So Eve is cold blooded?Β Cause warm blooded would have homeostatic system to maintain a relatively constant internal environment?Β (Just wondering)

Aha, a scientific challenger of knowledge! Question everything, Flam-san! XD Yes, she is cold-blooded in layman's terms and has to regulate her body temperature through behavioral means, such as basking to raise heat and swimming to cool off.

Swimming?Β Just a question though, I thought snakes don't swim? (I mean snake not naga)Β So how would they normally cool off?Β I know that if they're like humans, homeostatic responses would work to correct the temeperature but I'm not too sure about cold blooded animals...

Oh, the vast majority of snakes can swim and most are excellent at it! Many snakes hunt very well in the water, and many use it as a refuge to escape from danger too! I just carried that over to my nagas as well!
In homeothermic (warm-blooded) animals, internal homeostatic responses indeed work to keep body temperature and metabolism at a stable balance. But poikilothermic (cold-blooded) creatures do not have this feature. Their body temperature is influenced by their surrounding temperature, and theyΒ rely on behavioral responses to maintain their metabolism. Put simply, they have to consciously move to areas of greater or lower heat to maintain a desirable body temperature. Eve is like that too! ^^

O.oΒ I never realized snakes could swim.Β But if they use it as a refuge from danger, how do they breathe in water?Β Cause don't they get their oxygen from the air like mammals?
On an off note couldn't Eve sorta just keep her home at a temperature optimal for all the basal metabolic activity?Β Since the temperature would be at the optimal level, then there would be no need for her to to constantly heat and cool her body?Β But then again, if would kinda be cool to have a small lake in the middle of your home for purposes of cooling off

:iconyuigoplz: Snakes may hide in water or swim from danger, but I never said anything about breathing underwater! While under, they hold their breath or breathe from hidden air pockets trapped in underwater vegetation.Β
Eve lives in the jungle like a snake, so she doesn't have a house in that sense of the word I kinda designed this race like an aboriginal people, living simply in the wild in harmony with nature. And of course the jungle is hot and damp, an ideal habitat for cold-blooded animals!Β
I see! Seriously Flam-san, if you wanted to criticise this design you should question Eve's heart. It really is too small for her body size. She would probably get a heart attack in a few years considering the rate it has to pump at :/ I was thinking the design over and managed to fit a second bigger heart in among that messy organ porridge, and I was thinking of uploading it, but I wondered if people would really be interested in looking at my weird creations What do you think? True true I didn't really expect her to live in the jungle.Β Sorta too used to living in a house so cause of the upper body I sorta just made an assumption that she didn't live in the jungle
Haha I try to criticize but not so much for biology!Β I kinda forgot that the heart has to be proportional to the body or else there just won't be enough blood pressure to pump blood efficiently to the other parts of the body.Β Alternatively, couldn't it beat faster?Β But then again, that would lead to unnecessary energy expenditure on Eve's part.

It doesn't necessarily mean sexual excitement. It refers to excitement in general, be it sexual or not. And mine is the non-sexual arousal.
