This is Smokey the Heathound, a fusion of Nanaki a.k.a. Red XIII from Final Fantasy VII and Houndoom from Pokemon. He is part of my latest story project - Mixania - my own original Amalgam universe, inspired by Marvel and DC's Amalgam Comics .

Smokey is Marin Shinshima's loyal pet Fanmon and faithful companion. Smokey meet Marin when he was just a stray pup on the street fighting for survival. She saved the poor puppy's life when he was ambushed by a group of Fanmon-abusing thugs. Since then, Smokey has been living by Marin's side as her protector. During his life on the streets, Smokey doesn't bond well with other Fanmon and finds difficulty connecting with his own kind. At first, Smokey can be untrusting towards others besides Marin, but just as he gets to know people, he begins to accept their company. He shows to be very protective and willing to fight enemies tooth and claw. As he grew, he developed powerful fire abilities for even bigger fights against the likes of Grinches and super-powered criminals.

Smokey has to be my very first fusion for a Fanmon - my amalgam of different monsters in the Monster-Taming genre including Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Hunter, Nexemon, Monster Rancher, Spectrobes, World of Final Fantasy, and so much more. I originally attended to have Marin be paired with a Pikachu-based Fanmon, but after doing some thinking and due to the lack of finding a real good fusion for Pikachu, I decided to go with a fusion of Red XIII and Houndoom to balance out Marin's water magic. For his personality, I took inspiration from Ace the big black Dane mix from Batman Beyond. I figure Marin's kind and compassionate side would help out Smokey's troubled past as a fighting-for-survival stray.
