OK, so go check out Dave Johnsons new awesome Punisher Max cover [link]
Really similar to my Saved cover. I posted mine first, by 10hrs or so. So it's just a really weird coincidence that we both have a big character center image, with a smaller one falling down the middle. Now, it's just not possible that i knew what DJ was drawing or the other way around. I have no idea what the plot is for that issue of PM.

Now, my brief for the cover was:

"For the cover, I'm thinking of a scene where the main character is caught as he falls and rescued by one of the flying heroes of NY. I'll have a few pages to show this week so you can get a sense of the vibe, if this is something that interests you."

So I did a few roughs, the one that was chosen was 2. This to me was more symbolic and more interesting than just a flying guy catching another guy over a city. I handed that layout in on the 18th of August.

4 was a pic i took on the 20th of august and posted on twitter of my progress.

the layout idea its self i had about 2 years ago when i had my first DC gig. I wanted to get into doing covers so i did a layout (i intended to draw it fully, but got hired on something else) for my Batman 80pg giant story. It involved a yearly ritual of calendar man escaping and jumping off a roof, only to have batman catch him. that what 1 is. I didn't use it so shelved it for later, which then poped into my mind when doing layouts for the cover of SAVED.

Anyway, hope that explains everything. Just a really weird coincidence. Felt I should say something about it, because it's really fucking weird.
