Several officers filed into the room where Djordje Illic was waiting at the viewport with his newest intelligence officer Divina Ramos. The Strike Force Marines near the doors barely flinched machine like discipline, it almost scared Djordje. Istvan was the to break the silence, "This is the first of our next-generation warships. Shame they weren't around when the Union was on the march."

Divina lifted her glasses to her nose. "The Houston class will be a great step forward. No communist will ever attempt to stand against our might."

"I have to say, humans, it's an impressive build. Will Sirius see any of these sent our way?" Captain Sima questioned the admiral.

"Oh no, there will be no stationary posting for this ship class. These Battle Cruisers will be on ever watchful patrol, but we will have the ECS Houston patrolling space around Earth and the closest systems." Illic replied to the question.

"Qualuirans have no threats to their sovereignty. Giving over such a ship is a waste." Istvan Janus stayed coldly composed, but Sima could sense a bit of outrage. "In all these ships will inspire pride in our loyal colonists on the fringe and fear in those that wish to harm them. No one planet should have them deployed on mere guard duty."

"However, who commands them is why many of you are all here. This ship has had its crew chosen, but the next ships in the production line will be ready within the week have no commanding officer. All except Supreme Commandant Stephan Janus and Divina Ramos have been chosen to command one." Illic announced to the other occupants.

"A Qualurian commanding one of our most powerful warships its arms could wipe a battle group out," Joseph shouted.

"No, Captain Mimbini, its missile compliment alone will do that. The tesla cannon are more for threats unknown. As for Sima's service record she was a most impressive fighter ace, and flew more CAS missions than any human pilot in the Sanders and Ocasio campaigns during the war. Her loyalty to the ECF and good looks have served almost as well to our cause as her fighting prowess." Divina responded, not so much defending the Qualurian as she was stating a fact.

"I am honored to be selected for such a prestigious command," Sima approached the window watching through that palladium view-port.

"So long as our politicians have common sense, these fearsome beasts will fully replace the old Moscow class by the end of the next decade," Janus added as he moved back to give Sima a better view.

"In a way, even as a Sidonian, I will miss the old Moscow Class with its old charm," Illic said, keeping his gloved hands behind his back.

While the company finished the contract for 20 warships, production lines ceased, shifting workers to other more sustainable fields. Of course, Sidonia Dynamics built more than 20 ships for private colony defenses forces who could afford the massive cost of the more watered-down variant.
