Due to his upbringing Kazuo has always had some sense of responsibility, especially when it came to taking care of other people. History:
Kazuo grew up with three siblings, putting a lot of pressure on his parents. From an early age he had been watching his dad cooking, his mom working with his younger siblings, and copying whatever he could to the best of his ability. Due to this, the furret never really had a proper childhood. Most of his time was spent caring for his family and he was stressed for a long time. These qualities led him to have early troubles at school. He would often fall asleep and tend to get mediocre to low grades, be alone during breaks, and have a general hard time making friends. There were even some kids that would pick on him, leaving him weak willed.

Things did calm down once he hit middle school and his siblings began to learn how to help around the house, but the impact of his early childhood gave him troubles moving forward in schools. He may have been getting slightly higher grades compared to before, but he was still getting bullied and picked on for how vulnerable he looked. He couldn't defend himself due to his low will, but one girl stood up for him. She was known as a troublemaker by the faculty and other students and fought off those who were antagonising him. She inspired him heavily and they quickly became good friends. Years later, he came across another kid who seemed to be shy and also was a victim of abuse. As this reminded him of the past self, he couldn't just hold back and partnered with his friend to fend them off. The trio were tight like glue, becoming inseparable through their time in the education system.

They went to the same schools until college where Kazuo went to study kinesiology. Because neither of his best friends were there, he was left alone. For the first few weeks, he still felt lost and vulnerable. However, the lessons he learned from the others echoed through his mind. Both of them always told him to stay strong and no longer be a pushover; not just for himself, but as a better role model for his younger siblings. Motivated by these sorts of feelings, he began to exercise regularly on his own for a while, but then began going to an actual gym for training and encouragement. Through his years in university he became strong, both physically and mentally.

After graduation, he moved to Mauville where one of his friends happened to be working at. He often stopped by where he met a female employee working as a new employee years later named Jenna Barkmin. Because this friend found them to be cute together, he decided that these two would be a good fit for each other and played cupid for them. Eventually, after a few set up dates and endless awkward moments, they began to fall in love and dated for real. They had lived there for about two years and continued to date when he decided to propose and become fiances. They began to make plans to move out to a quieter location soon to start a new life together.

Rather than the city that they had lived in previously, they had wanted to live in a more open place that didn't feel so cramped. They found a perfect location and, after a quick "see you" to their friends, they took the train for the move.
