The shadow on the little planet. I know fading all the way to black is realistic, but it makes it more visually appealing have detail still visible in the shadows. It also seems a little too abrupt. Also, maybe you could have some fire trails coming off from the planet, from the power of the star? The background seems a tad too empty, I know the focus is on the star but it feels like you need something there. Another thing...two asteroid belt? Looks a bit odd. And what are those weird upwards moving things supposed to be?
Lol, might be getting a bit nitpicky here, so I'll wrap it up. Great work on the star, love the flares emanating from it e.deviantart.com/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" />

In my opinion the star field in the background could be sharpened a little more but because of the closeness of the relative star, the stars would be harder to see. Great detail overall!

If this is boring, then my work is insufferably lame. XD

Beautiful work with the supernova. Other than the fact that the surrounding tiny stars of the background seem a bit faded, I can't say if there is any more I would add to this magificent art. I especially love the way that the solar flares and the entire blindingly bright impression just stands out so intensely, and the way that the asteroids and the shooting stars (comets?) around the center add to the work.

Lol. I am very glad you like this piece. I noticed the stars after I submitted it. I struggle quite a tremendous amount when it comes to making star-fields and stars in general so please forgive me if it is poor quality of work.

Thanks for the comment!

No, no...it's not poor quality at all! It's just that...well...since I didn't know what else to say about improving the work a tiny bit (and I do emphasize on that, because I can't imagine how I would go about improving it I'm nowhere near that level yet). Your work is intensely beautiful, to the point where it's so lovely that I didn't notice the other stars much. That's all.

I like this, I don't see too many things that focus on the star quite like this. I like the little stars that shoot up, or comets. I like even more that you added them to it just because you thought it looked cool. don't take the you out of your art.

Woah shiny. I love planetscapes and starfields, and I also love the colour blue. You've combined the two!

With that asteroid belt, I could help but see the Super Nova as a gambler shuffling cards through the air, from one hand to the other. Hehe.

I am enraptured with the Super Nova, both the coloration and the intensity. I would have to agree with others, that the emissions from the great star are too crisp though.

I think others have already commented on any inconsistencies that I could see, so instead, I get to just say "Good job and keep up the amazing work!"

I really like the fluidity of the asteroid belts and the flares around the supernova. I know that maybe they're not totally accurate, but I find them aesthetically pleasing. The detail on the supernova is done very well, too. Pretty good for just messing around!

anzelwolveine [2009-05-17 14:38:22 +0000 UTC]

Why are all the stars seeming to shoot upwards? It just seems a little peculiar to me...also, what are the visible dotted lines that appear upon the surface of the planet/sun? They don't match with the actual curves of the sphere, so that's a bit distracting. The area on the top right of the planet, where there are some random darker squiggles, it would benefit from a bit more shadowing and detail. Also, on the bottom, I'd say the same thing: Needs a bit more detail.

The asteroid belt of sorts is kind-of out of place --- not that bad, to be honest, but it just doesn't seem to fit with the picture. The one on the bottom right corner, though, fits much better. And maybe the circling moon/planet could be a bit more oddly shaped? With such a turbulent planet/sun, you'd expect maybe a bump in the surface or something...just an idea.

Hope you don't mind my crit It's a beautiful piece, but you asked for criticism, so I was as honest as I could be.

tHs-Acid In reply to anzelwolveine [2009-05-17 14:45:15 +0000 UTC]

Of course I don't mind critique. How else would I get better? Also all of the stars shooting up was just mainly something I was screwing around with and it looked kinda cool, so I kept it. Also I really don't know where those dotted lines came from but I will clone them out and resubmit here very soon.

Also I will see if I can add some more solar flares or something. Thanks mate.
