Description His name is Alowishes..

I was utterly amazed when I found this guy at a thrift store... but I dont think that is where he came from. I bet he used the magic dust in his little deerskin pouch to coat himself with invisibility and wandered out of some unnoticed enchanted forest in the mountains of the west. In fact... he has told me...

--

....He came from the land of magic and into the bleak realm of man's city where dreams are dead, kindness is forgotten, and enchantment has been left behind in the trash. Here he must have found no wonderment and no whimsy in the eyes of those grey beings that hurried angrily about their courses, always an the quest for money. Eventually he let his magic power wear off, revealing himself to man... and yet he might as well have remained invisible, for even then no one noticed him! Then some strange figure came up and caught Alowishes out of the corner of its eye. It picked him up and looked at him... and then spoke... "I bet I can sell this for a few dollars".
How incredible! A true dream was something that was bought and sold in this place! They did not see that true dreams were precious things that everyone deserved to have.
Alowishes cared not to speak to the figure, for if it did not bother to realize that it had stumbled into a real great bear wizard, then there was no reason.

And so the figure dumped him on a shelf (it did not even have the courteousy to stand Alowishes upright), wrote a price on his robe (a mere $3) and left to await to see if he would sell. Alowishes was miffed and saddened.

So here he sat for a few days... and no one paid him heed. He began to wonder if he would soon have to embarrassingly pull himself up out of some dirty garbage can where all the unsold stuff went. He recalled it had been such a long time since when a man last walked through his woods looking for the glistening of fairy wings. Centuries even. It appeared man had give all that up. They must have become unsatisfied with sitting and wondering at the world and instead became enamored with controlling it and others around them. Even the younger ones... those more likely to love dreams and know the magic of the world... they walked right by Alowishes holding little videogame systems in their hands. Little electronic things where man had made a fake fantasy place and sold it to others for more money. Perhaps it was best Alowishes returned to the enchanted forest and let all those magical creatures know that they were now unto themselves and there was no use in visiting man anymore.

But the next day, another figure noticed Alowishes. This one was a stranger one that looked thin and cautious. His motions were quick and light. He was a young man, darkly clouded like the others, but his eyes were looking everywhere and gave off a glint of something frightened and sad. His eyes set upon the wizard bear's shiny magic robe and filled with wonderment and excitement. It picked him up and looked over him marveling at this mysterious creature. then the young man seemed filled with a gaiety under the thin clouded dust of sadness over him as he tread lightly to the seller and paid the 3 dollars. Alowishes smiled for he could tell this awkward young man saw the wizard for what he was.. a true dream.

The young man took Alowishes back to a dull dirty building full of noise and yelling. And there he lead him to a lonely room locked away amidst the walls. In the room was a big bed and many dolls of make believe characters. the room smelled of many rich incenses (some magical ones too). There were also a few books that told stories about the land of enchantment and wonder... some of them sad ones though about the loss of it. There was even a few statues, a few magic trinkets, and a Tarot deck that looked like it had been shuffled through with confusion. Then they young man laid back in the bed to try and cool off (for the world of man had little to no trees and therefore was always hot and unpleasant). Using his magical thoughts, Alowishes looked into the young man as he rested and saw all of what he was.
The wizard bear could see that though the young man had true dreams and was a believer at heart, his big pillow had many tearstains in it. He was a dreamer clouded over by the harshness he saw in the world man had made. His heart was bleeding, but yet had not broken alltogether. The man was confused deeply. He could see that he had found no kindness or companionship in mans world and preferred to regress to looking for it in fantasy books and magic items. Alone as he was, he looked to his dolls as close friends and companions and even strangely held them close at night. He was a man, but he could not let go of dreams or the whimsical, something which in his world made for much confusion and distress. He felt hated by others for who he was... when he only longed to be loved and to believe in 'make-believe'.

Alowishes watched the young man reach over and pick up a doll of some big cat dressed in the colorful outfit of a jester. He then put on a similarly brightly colored silky outfit. Though him and the doll both looked very cheery and whimsical, the young man seemed not so in his eyes. Instead, he crawled back into his bed holding the cat doll close and Alowishes could feel a soft sadness envelop the young man. He soon drifted into sleep.

Seeing this the wizard saw that this young dreamer found it hard to dream anymore. Still he saw that even though he was broken, he still hung onto those lost dreams in private and would not let go of them. Maybe, though the wizened wizard bear, it would not be so bad to stay in the world of man for a while. He could stay here and help the young man dream more happily. With that, he waved his hand paws and cast a shimmering spell over the sleeping man, a spell to take him away in his sleep to that enchanted land where sunny green fields and beautiful creatures await.
