Van and Mana have known each other for a long time as they essentially grew up together in the same town though details about the town or why they left are fuzzy at best. When asked, Van tends to quickly change the subject while Mana will tell you to 'shove off', if he's in a good mood, or just walk away, if he's in a bad mood.

Van is the heroic of the duo who strives to protect anyone in need. He was the one who pushed to join the Rescuers Guild, though Mana would have rather joined the Merchants. He likes shiny things. Van is constantly trying to improve his fighting skills so that he won't fail when the times comes to use them. He doesn't like to fight for the sake of fighting, though he will happily take part in friendly sparing. Out of the two, Van is the one with more pure power so if they ever really fought on equal ground, he would come out the victor, although that's relying on Mana not cheating to gain the advantage. And you can't trust him not to do that.

Mana is the cynical, sarcastic member of the duo. He may appear like a free radical, but he ultimately always follows Van. Unlike other Murkrows, Mana has vowed never to steal, though he is fine with 'temporarily taking something with the promise to return it eventually'. Also, don't touch his scarf.
