ok... so Political? I don't know really, but war is politics no?anyway... always loved that quote and this comes from my WWII fascination days

My uncle was a Marine in Desert Storm. He died from a brain tumor awhile back but he did his country proud

My boyfriend is an Air Force Reservist and every day we both live in fear that he is going to be called away. But I will forever stand by his side and I will always be proud of him because he is willing to risk his life so that my mother, my sister, my best friend, that random stranger walking down the street, and I can continue to do the things we do on a daily basis.

its F***ed up when our own media hurts us more than insurgents, this isnt a war of attrition any more, not like the days of ww I/II, this is a battle to win the people. for that we need just as much homeland support as in country support

Soldiers, such as myself, think long and hard about war. "Do we really want to end a life or be home with our families? and if I die on that faraway field, what will then happen to my friends and family when I am gone?" As to where the quote came from, I don't know since the armed services use that quote in marching cadences but the spirit of the message remains clear. Soldiers are the providers of the blanket of freedom, in which at times, comes with the cost of their own lives.

as 7433nd already said...war is necessary although it does devastate people and ravage lands..it brings forth so much more...freedom,life,honor,and so much more...without war the U.S. wouldn't have such good trade with other countries...definately with our past allies and enemies

Anyway, the concept is very deep and I love that quote...Think I saw it at the end of a war film once and it has always stayed in my mind. It has a very emotional undertone to it that really gets to him. It's sad, but also, hopeful.
I can really appriciate this, because many of my friends and family are soldiers.

i am a soldier myself, i dislike war, as most on this site seem to, but i also understand the need for it...human kind is not ready to step past petty diferances and talk things out...they get upset and like little kids start to throw punches, im no artist, but im more then willing to fight so that you folks that can draw dont have to! hell if i get my hands blown off ill just get someone to tap sticks to the stubs so i can still heckle the lot of you, ho-ra to the wallpaper, and ho-ra to the united states armed forces

I don't like wars.. They're fought for silly reasons all the time... When I think of the soldiers fighting in wars I think of pawns, they're set out there to die, their enforcers don't care about them, as long as they win... If you visit a military cemetery you'll see hundreds of stones that say "Known but to God" like that does.

The quote is actually from a USMC marching cadence. Sorry for responding though, lol. I was flipping through wallpapers, found this, and thought I'd answer your question. I'm not sure the title of the thing, but ask your local marines... they'll probably be able to tell you.

The quote really sounds like some one returning home from the war... the back ground really brings forth the kind of quiet sadness of the quote more. Good job.
