Chinese inks and paint on rice paper. One of the final paintings I did two years ago in my Chinese painting class. Basically all we had to do there every week was copy an illustration, so I'm not taking any credit for the design. Was pretty happy with it all the same. Gave it to a dear friend
Unfortunately I didn't take a good picture of it (the paper was crinkly -as rice paper generally is- and placed at an angle) so it's been edited and fixed up.

don't know why but I am in love with the shape of the peacocks neck, the ridges and bumps make it so fluid and gives it so much texture at the same time. very good work!

Wow, this is absolutely stunning! That splash of color in the feathers just makes the whole picture pop! Chinese painting sounds like a pretty fun and unique class to take.

It was a very fun class to take! (studied in China for a year so I was quick to jump into all the fun electives) Not easy however as instruction was completely in Mandarin, so how well you did depended not only on your general experiences drawing and/or painting, but your language skills too. It was sink or swim pretty much. I miss it a lot; maybe I should get back into it.Β
