Have titled this shot feeling for a number of reasons. Firstly it was taken at one of my workshops where the theme of the day was to get to a place where we are open enough to feel. I believe that in life we often block our senses as soon as we are out of our comfort zones. In modern life we are becoming so robotically precious that almost any relationship has us feel discomfort. In photography models often tense up when the camera is pointed at them. Also photographers are often tense in dealing with both camera settings and directing the model. So it was important that on this day we made ourselves aware to not be restricted. The other major reason for the title is to do with firstly Alyssa's nipples and secondly her expression. To me when I see nipples, especially erect ones I think and feel passion. I imagine the sensitivity of the nipple and how much feeling it can bring to the woman. I think I also connect to how beautiful it would be to touch the nipple in a gentle way and to feel the sensation the woman may feel come back to me. With regards to Alyssa's expression I see it that she is not putting up protective or restrictive walls. As such she is feeling the moment rather than getting self absorbed in the result of the camera click.www.leapoffaith.com.au

The image is wonderful. She does seem truly relaxed which is a very difficult thing to achieve when nude.
Your explanation is refreshing. It's really nice that a photographer has the balls to come out and just say what's on their minds. Sexuality is such a taboo in the U.S. that most people, even nude photographer, won't really talk about it, and when it is talked about, it's usually quite sophomoric in nature.

Thanks for your reply. I think half the problems with life is that we are scared to admit to our own desires. Political correctness does little to heal wounds and much to encourage us to pretend they are not there.Sex should be one of the most empowering aspects of humanity but to my mind the cloak and dagger has made it one of the most destructive.

I'm fairly certain Australia has the same issue as we do in the U.S. Sexuality is considered a bad thing by our grandparents, our parents a little bit better about it, and my generation is just a little bit better about it than them, but it's still such an incredible taboo despite all the over sexualization of situations in our media.
I mean, honestly, a film like "American Pie" is socially acceptable and can be seen in theaters upon release, but a film like "Blue Valentine" gets and NC-17 rating for it's one sex scene. We're somehow willing to accept it when it's in the form of random debauchery and is made fun of, but can't accept it in a story where the people actually love each other? It makes me a bit ill.

Think we humans are conditioned to not go deep into the things that challenge us. Sex and nudity is very powerful and due to our conditioning we make quick and powerful surface level judgments. Only when we communicate deeply with our own feelings will things like sex ever become empowering. You are right that Australia has the same issues as America. Unfortunatly we seem to be like little America here in so many ways.

You're right. Sex and nudity can be very powerful things in so many different ways, but that gut reaction of rejecting it immediately needs to be worked out. My parents never hid what sex actually was from me, they never preached rigid abstinence, and if I had question they answered them. I still understand that sexuality shouldn't be handled lightly, but then again, I don't have to hide from it like so many people I know.
It's a sad state of affairs, indeed. But it's people like you, people who can express what it really means and why it's so important, that gives me hope for better understanding in the future.
