I love the rough look. You've captured the essence/spirit of the creature without using all the fancy details. Great job on your studying!

I think what could use the most improvement are the lines in the background. They cross over the bird's beak which makes it distracting. If the lines were lighter and not touching they'd make the bird stand out better.
