STARSWIRL WAS AN EARTH PONY! I will cling to my outlandish head-canon until I die. I don't care if it's been explicitly jossed by MMC...(I had it head-canon that Starswirl would turn out to secretly be an earth pony, a magical philosopher gifted with an unparalleled insight into the inner workings of the arcane but entirely dependent upon a series of young, female unicorn assistants to actually test any of his research. Shut up, I like my theory, even if it is wrong.)

Indeed. Poor Luna too. Several millenia later she's still sitting on the cold floor. She totally needs to get a throne and Starswirl should be told he did an okay job on the math considering.
