Description My entry for the Rift contest.

This is an air colossus, as you can probably tell from the annotations and the great big wings, etc. I looked at vultures, wasps and horses.

Digitally painted from scratch in Photoshop. I wanted to do something more like a concept sheet than an action picture, so that I could focus entirely on the beast and convey its features well - I'm not quite sure exactly what is desired in this contest, but there you go.

Needs moar talons though. Not nearly menacing enough for my taste in monsters.

Thank you so much! I wish I had the skill to animate this, or apply some sound effect of some sort, but sadly I don't - so I hope I can convey enough through just the image.

This is brilliant, I really appreciate it's originality. Not like I'm pointing fingers but most of the entries are just the same thing over and over again. I'll be joining the contest pretty soon but I honestly hope this design works for them, great job!

Thank you! I deliberately chose the air realm because I thought that the other elements created an inclination to do a big monster with things stuck to it (i.e. plants, jewels etc.) - I thought air would be more of a challenge and would force me to think about doing something a little bit different - so I'm glad you think that it has worked.
