the pirates done i thinkI think i have all but wrapped this one up- there are some minor things to tackle here and there and i will do that in the next few days- i am pretty ok with the end results- now it is time to just let this one sit-

the pirates highlights progress
Well we are moving forward. I had to fix the boat, as it was pointed out and rightly so it was too high. I also fixed a few other things, finished the shadows and started the highlights. My main focus so far has been the rocks which started very 1d the color was added to create depth. I still have highlights to do on the boat, figures, water, clouds and sand. I will prob work on this tomorrow because i have to ink my next one tonight.

Here are the flats- had to take a few breaks because of a headache- I hate root canals

Well I knew the teddybear pirates would have to return. So here they are - well the inks anyways. I am going to play with a lot of shadow and color here especially in the water and such.
The ship was a new challenge for me and i am happy how it came it out. Still figuring out rigging and what not
but that comes through study and time.I will hopefully post some flats this evening- right now i am off to dental surgery - fun huh?
So what is the Story?
I figured this round about i would let others tell the story
name the characters etc... So what do you think the tale be?the is a print: 18x24 final size

Really nice work dude. The colouring on the water is very believable. Cartooning water has always been a real problem for me, particularly with near still waters.

The pirate teddy bears is definitely my favorite part of this piece. Very expressive little scallywags. I like the one carrying the extra shovels. Some great details. The sword blade in the back of the pirate skeleton and the hand coming out of the cave in teh background of this picture kinda meld together, forming a sort of "false tangent" of sorts, and it almost looks like the hand in the background is a sort of third arm sticking out of the back of the pirate skeleton.
Also this piece has a lot of blank open space. I was thinking that in your infinite free time you ought to learn to do throw in some interesting textures in some of your coloring. NOthing too obvious, but it might make the empty spots look a bit more detailed.

I really like the way the rocks turned out. Your colors are always so well done. Very crisp! I love the skeleton hand coming out of the cave as well (I didn't notice it the first time around!)
