I see I have already favourite-d this one some time ago I'm browsing your fabulous gallery and truly admire your candid / street photography.

Here in South Africa it's too dangerous to walk about the streets brandishing camera equipment (or jewellery or in fact anything you don't wish to have ripped off you).

I love your gallery.

The cameras I use are more than 30 years old, I cover them in duct tape, no one in there right mind would rob them.

i can't believe this photo has no comments... this is fantastic.

how's the fx-d? i just got myself a lynx 5000 that just came in the mail on saturday... realized the battery didn't work, so i have to find one that will fit, since they don't make mercury batteries anymore. only $30 with shipping though... a steal!

My fx-d is actually broken (the light meter), so I take the batterys out and use it fully manually. I either use a pentax spot meter to judge exposures or guess the ambient light. Works well for me, at the start got a few dodgy exposures but not anymore.

interesting. i just did some research and am going to order some watch batteries for it. i hope the light meter still works... the battery in it now is dead, so i can't really see if everything works yet. hopefully it will work like a dream...

If all else fails you can buy a small ambient light meter, I think Leica make cheap ones that go on the camera if it has a hotshoe. And then set it manually.

Haha yeah the I'm a firm believer in the Kevin Carter school of photography, someone has to die to get a good image.
