I cannot wait to see it with my own eyes. It seems so alien to me!

The same ice age floods that carved this also carved the Ancient Lakes and Frenchmans Coulee and the Feathers.
Definitely something to add to your must see list.

I can't see how that could possibly be my fault. you are young...you have time.
I have the good fortune of living in one of the most scenically diverse places in the country.

Thank you!
I don't think any photo can do justice to seeing this site in person. (but that never stops us, does it?)

Well it is literally half a world away from the UK.
It is one of the geologic wonders of the world and have a fascinating history of its creation.

This is awesome. What a vista!
Does US 2 pass anywhere near to this formation? It looks familiar...

Thanks David!
You can’t see this feature from US-2, but you drive by about 2 or 3 miles north of it. Headed west on US-2 you drop down from the plateau into the coulee. The vista center and falls are a few miles south on WA-17. The junction of US-2 and WA-17 is just before you cross the Dry Falls Dam (an earthen dam that contains Banks Lake). Across the earth dam is Coulee City. You can just make out the grain elevators in Coulee City in the (left of center) distance in the photo.
I have been there more times than I can count (in all seasons) sense I was a little kid and it still seems new, awesome and well worth a stop. I have shot it from the top, the bottom and one side. My photos never seem to do justice to the actual sight.

Dry Falls Dam - that is what I remember... Thanks for putting it together for me. There is a lot more for me to explore in WA.

You 'west of the mountainers" do lack a real appreciation for the desert, scabland, prairies, geology and lakes of Eastern WA. Theses ecosystems have a unique beauty in and of themselves.
If you need a tour guide...I'm available. On this journey we started at the bottom of the coulee at Soap Lake and drove all the way up to the top at Grand Coulee Dam. And then back home through the wheat fields to capture some of the abandoned buildings and farms.
