Susumu Hori is addicted to drilling. He just have to save the world from the coloured blocks that appears from the depths of the earth, over and over...Now he has to confront his addiction.

I really like the pop art style of this...And your slightly darker concept of Dig-dug is interesting to boot.

I like to mix cute with ugly if you put it that way. Since the games really have a darker story than it appears. I like to dig that up a bit.
It's kinda like Kirby, he is pink and cute, but does that mean he is nice? He isn't. He only does things HE think is a good thing to do, or just what he wants to. Kirby isn't any good guy when you think of it.
Like in Kirby's Adventure, when Dedede takes a bath in the Fountain of Dreams, and he breaks the Starrod into seven pieces to prevent Nightmare from going into peoples dreams. Then Kirby sees that as Dedede being the bad guy and sets of to find all the pieces of the Starrod, not knowing he will summon Nightmare into peoples dreams..

Well that's exactly it...But then again, you can find darker things in virtually anything. Look at Super Mario Bros. The goombas were former subjects of the Mushroom kingdom, but there's no problem in squashing hundreds of them. Kirby...it's hard to say. Though a big part of it was him being naive, despite the western version showing Kirby as knowing what he was doing.
That's a very interesting way to think of things though...Imagine all you could get with something like Pokemon.

And all the toads in Mushroom Kingdom were turned into the blocks that Mario smashes...
Just think of the PokΓ©mons as real life animals.. then it'll get pretty dark.. Like catching a wild fox and then train it to fight, and then use it to battle a chicken?

That's a pretty good concept for a picture, especially since the image itself is so cheerful and cute if you aren't paying attention!

I first wanted it to be in art dΓ©co style. But I thought that a simpler and cuter style would fit Susumu better. And the idea with the drill just came from nowhere. I just drew it in front of him.. then the idea developed from my doodle ^^ I really like it myself!
