This is a quickie comic that I whipped up a while back for a contest being hosted by a favorite game of mine, MapleStory; a very fun and addictive MMORPG. The rules of the contest were to create a 4-panel comic highlighting a new feature in the game's "Chaos" patch, using screenshots from the game and any other media of your choice.Sadly... I WAS NOT ONE OF THE WINNERS.
Broken dreams and hopes aside, I made this comic to poke fun at the Silent Crusade Quest Line that was added in the game. It forces your character to develop a crush on a Super Tsundere NPC, which can be quite weird or awkward if your character is already married in-game.
The mute, pink-haired character featured in the comic isn't my own in-game character, but is an OC I came up with named RandomAssPlayer, or RAP for short. I'm actually hoping/planning to make comic series about MapleStory with RAP as the main character, so you might consider this a "sneak peak" of sorts.

The T.V misteriously flickered off and Thomas's bedroom lamp flashed on and off several times. It went pitch black, Thomas looked to theΒ left of him and there she was, Bloody Mary standing in white rags. Blood everywhere with a knife in her hand then disappeared. The biggest fright of Thomas's life.

Ehhh, you didn't miss much with this event. As I remember, it wasn't that great, and they ended up completely redoing it later and made Starling and Crow much less interesting. XD;
But oh my gosh, I really understand your pain about getting hacked! I got hacked not too long after I made this comic, and I haven't played much at all since. And in the end, Nexon never helped me... Sooo... so much for my Mapling days... T___T ...I miss that game...

Yeah! Thank god the person is only stealing away my money...but at the same time I'm getting a hard time with Nexon. awh i stopped playing in March but found out in July that i was hacked... :/ same, nexon refuses to help people so i feel kind of disappointed... aw...its okay...i know how you feel ;-; so many good memories

Oh jeez, I can't begin to tell you how awful Nexon America is... >__< Not only did they refuse to help, but they blamed ME for getting hacked! I never gave anyone my account info, never went to any suspicious sites that steal your info, and played the game as normally and safely as possible, yet they say it's my fault someone was able to worm their way into my account and take all my hard earned mesos and items. That's like saying it's my fault if someone busts in my bedroom window and steals my TV while I'm not home. T__T I spent a crapload of money on that game, and all they can say is "It's your fault, so we can't help you, but please, come and spend more money on our game and hope to God you don't get hacked again." FFFUUUU-!!!

Um, sorry about that. That experience just really ticked me off... >_< But strangely enough, I don't have too many good memories in MapleStory. I never had many good friends to play with, and the ones I did have would just stop playing a few days after I'd meet them, and I'd never seem them again. Most of the time I was just... alone. But I spent a whole bunch of time trying to make my character as cool and strong as possible, so I could use that strength to help other players for fun and make friends just by helping people. But I guess karma doesn't exist, since my thanks for helping people was my account getting hacked... ;__; I guess my only good memories are those of my training and kicking ass and helping out the people I managed to help out in my time there... And thinking about those times always makes me yearn a little to come back and try again...

Awh yeah i got that too and I literally snapped because I herd from others that they wouldn't help and I've been supporting nexon for...well..ever since my friend got me into the game so I felt disappointed. Blaming the people for getting hacked is wrong...They should know better, Sometimes I want to work for them and ACTUALLY try my hand at hacking to help the players get their accounts back. (i dont know its a silly dream)
Its okay :I I rant a lot too about it and its fine, because we've both had it happened so its okay to converse about it haha.My Good memories :I I had a lot because I had some friends and I helped a lot of people...Some of them I'm still friends with til this day even if I cannot play it anymore. My good memories are from training and meeting new people and fooling around in Ludibrium or El Nath (;n; I was really lazy and I refused often to go up the towers) Even til this day, I look back and I wish to play it again...but I might when I do play a Private Server

You know, it's funny, but that doesn't sound like a silly dream to me. In fact, serious respect to you! *Fist pump* >w< I always kinda wished the same thing; that I could work for Nexon as a moderator, but still be a player. And my account could have special abilities, like being able to instant-ban people who are obviously hackers or cheaters or are causing any kind of problems for other players. It would be like being that one good cop on a police force full of power-tripping jerks. Oh how satisfying that would be...~
But anyway, yeah, nice to meet someone who understands so well~ ^ ^ I might go back to the game someday as well, but one of the main things keeping me from going back is how drastically it's changed. I started playing years ago, back when there were only 4 Job Classes, it took forever to travel between places and the only gear you ever really needed was a Zakum Helm. But nowadays, there's way too many job classes and little to no balance between them, everything on Victoria Island is so bunched together that a lot of the feeling of adventure is gone, and there's way too many overpriced items you need in order to have even a decent character by today's standards... ;___; And I'm just scratching the surface of the bad changes. It's just... not the game I fell in love with anymore. Nexon became so obsessed with making money, that they took the fun out of the game and made it unplayable unless you can continuously fork over the cash. *Sigh* Maybe I should just give Mabinogi another chance, unless Nexon screwed that up too...

haha yeah it is nice cause none of my friends ever got hacked and I just felt out of it when they'd brag about stuff in MapleStory. Yeaaaah I liked the old MapleStory too, but I also liked the KnightsofCygnus (my main was one) But I still liked the old maple and I was such a noob too ;_; I didn't know how to put good stats on my thief. Plus the new jobs are really over powered and I don't like it at all because I worked hard on my NightWalker and everyone gets to level 50 in less than a week and it took me a whole month to get to 50. Yeah I hear you on that one, but sometimes I want to play it to feel for the old memories that flooded my little child-like brain. Nexon is really...scammer-like so that's why I don't plan on playing it again but I'm considering it...just right now I expect change. I herd Mabinogi got screwed up too for somethings...but I only know a couple of people who've played it.

But yeah, you're right about the whole hacker thing. I would see them all the time mass-killing mobs and teleporting the drops to them, completely jacking a whole map. I'd report them to the mods, but they'd never show up! I swear, I ran into a hacker once that was in the same spot for at least a week! Honestly, what do Nexon pay their mods for anyway? Playing Minesweeper and Solitaire for hours while MapleStory runs in the background? *AllOfMyHate* >_<
Anyway, omg, you're really making me reminisce about MapleStory~ My very first Warrior that had his stats all wrong, my Spearman that took FOREVER just to get to level 50 (lolwhat, it took you a month to get to level 50? Took me several! XD), and most of all, my awesome Aran I managed to get all the way to level 150 before he was hacked, robbed and crippled... *Sigh* The satisfaction of reaching that point... gone in a flash because of some lousy hacker...
Still, everytime I hear that soothing music from the login screen, OH SWEET NOSTALGIA TRIP, I want to play it again~ ;_; But it's a trap... all a trap. It's too bad Mabinogi suffered the same fate. I actually played it for a while and was enjoying it. I even bought a 2-person pet horse in the hopes I'd meet a lady friend I could ride across the land with, like a boss. What a waste that turned out to be... Nexon, y u so fail?

Yeah >n< I remember seeing stuff about New Leaf brigade and for awhile my silly mind said "Let's become a leaf brigade since we do all that stuff!" never happened...but yeah, it is ridiculous how much nexon doesn't actually do anything. (and so my dream of working for nexon and being an undercover GM begins) My First Nightwalker was a fail beyond words...I was prone to dieing...the same with all my other ones, I had treasured my Aran though because she had the Uie event hair (Designer hair) but after Evan came the hairstyle disappeared so I was sad. *sighs* I feel you're pain in losing them. (;n; you have no idea how much time I spent on MapleStory everyday...I played til 3-4am in the morning on weekends...I look back and laugh at myself cause I got in trouble several times)

Yes~ I swear, you're like a Shiny Pokemon! XD; And why is it that whenever I meet cool people like you, they live in an entirely different country? ;__; Where are all the California-grown otakus?
But anyway, I feel ya on the artist block thing. Though, I feel I go through something worse, which I call "Artist Overload". It's when I have so many things I want to draw, but no time whatsoever to draw them because I'm so busy with everything else... Oh the things forever trapped in my head...
Back to MapleStory again; I can't say I've heard of the "New Leaf Brigade". o__o Must be something they added while I was gone. *Sigh* Every time I miss out on something, it makes me want to go back less, because every event seems to involve some incredible one-time only item that's gonna cost hundreds of millions of mesos after the event is over, and you just feel like a loser for not having it (Example: the Evo Rings). I'm sorry to hear that about your Aran though... ;n; I've never heard of a hairstyle with a time-limit on it... I can't believe Nexon actually sunk that low. I fear to even look at their Cash Shop now, because everything in there a time-limited rip-off. And don't even get me started on those Miracle Cube things... That entire idea of adding "Potentials" to your items is just one giant money sink. I know game companies need to make money, but my goodness, have some shame, Nexon. >_<;; There's so many things in that game that should never have cost real money...
And while I'm raging against Nexon, did I mention one of things I'm most pissed about? The very thing you're commenting on; the comic I submitted to their lousy contest... I entered 3 of their art-based contests and didn't even place or get selected in any of them! And I had put more time and effort into my entries than most of the winners did.... ;____; It's like they just... picked at random or something...
Ah... I guess that whole "riding across the land" thing was pretty corny. ^ ^; I can't help it... MapleStory and Mabinogi always did promote relationships with all the marriage stuff they added; so me being a hopeless romantic would always get sad when I saw couples in-game and would be all like: F-F-F-FOREVER ALOOOONE...
And, aww, why do you make it sound like it's bad we're becoming friends? Friendship is Maaaaagic~

The New Leaf Brigade was supposed to be like a way for nexon to find people and make them into GM's if they were like "good maplers who reported hackers and wanted to help protect the game" <_< some silly thing like that. Yeah ;_; that hairstyle is one of the reasons I'm willing to fight to get my account back pretty much.
Yeah miracle cube's are weird <_< I think I purchased one at one point...If I remember. Yeah :I the only time I was willing to spend a ton of money was when there were Permanent items in the cash shop.
Yeah I had entered the mechanic contest and I pretty much created custom items (hence my famous custom headset <_> for BannedStory)
I didn't get into the Evan contest either ;n; but it'll be okay because I ended up getting 5k maple coins <_< which I thought was weird.
that was me for a LOOOOOONG TIME (kay...not a long time...but I dated someone but I got a bit tired of him after a year...plus it didn't really last a year with all the ON/OFF stuff)

And I'm sorry to hear that Nexon overlooked your effort and talent as well... Those people wouldn't know art if smacked them in their money-grubbing asses. I swear, behind the scenes, Nexon's staff is a bunch of monkeys hitting random buttons and getting paid with bananas. >_>;
Awwww, that was you too? TwT Yeah, that was easily the most depressing part of playing MapleStory... But online relationships ARE pretty sucky, so looking back I'm glad I never got into one over Maple. Still... it would have been nice to have some friends on there...
And not to sound all "Join-the-herd"-ish, but you should try and watch MLP sometime. XD Being an anime fan, I think you'll enjoy it. It has the, um... spirit... of an anime. Which is probably why it and Homestuck are often welcome at Anime Conventions~ Seriously, it's a good show. ^ ^ Pinkie Pie is only creepy in that one episode. But while we're on the subject of MMORPGS, I wanted to let you know about a new game I recently just discovered, that is also made by Nexon. You might have heard of it, but it's called "Dragon Nest" and it looks to be interesting. It seems to have all the fun combat of MapleStory (with a similar class system as well), with all the 3D visuals of Mabinogi. Best of all, it's fairly new, being released last year, so it hasn't been around long enough for Nexon to run it into the ground... >w>;; I found out that a friend of mine plays it, and I'm currently trying to find out what server they play on. (Which is why I took so long getting back to you. I was hoping to find my friend first.) If I do find out and start playing it myself, would you care to join in on the adventure? Show you a whole new world, a new fantastic point of view, where no one can tell us no or where to go or say we're only dreaming? Start over in a new world with new friends and new crazy antics? If you do, I'd like to try and get one or two more people to join and form the most awesome party ever~ (Like the characters from "TOME". If you haven't heard of that series, go to Newgrounds or Youtube and watch it right now! Best cartoon about an MMORPG EVER! >w<)

Ahaha, and it sounds like you were a fan of the early generations of MLP, huh? I guess I can see why you have a hard time adapting to the change. ^ ^; The revamps are really great though. I mean, the ponies actually have unique and interesting personalities and designs now and don't look so darn creepy (I apologize if I'm insulting your childhood... o__o;; ). And Rainbow Dash is FREAKING AWESOME NOW. :3 But anyway~ XD Hmmm, I guess you could handle "Cupcakes", but maybe you should start with watching the PONY.MOV series on Youtube, starting with APPLE.MOV. Awhile back I played a REALLY good and REALLY fun MMORPG awhile back...Lucent Heart. It was mostly based off the Western Horoscopes and a love pairing thing...but It had ...REALLY EPIC CLASSES the graphics were nice too...I liked the music most of all. (I kept getting the blue screen of death that's why I had to stop playing it)

Sadly, I heard that there's definitely nothing after the Coco quest; not even in the Japanese version, of which it's originally from. It basically ends right there because someone was too lazy to finish writing it. So we probably will never get to know what happens to Starling/Crow... 
But we could always, you know, use our IMAGINATION~
