Ugh! I have so many ideas for the ROTTMNT. I cannot sleep because of turtles. And this might be my favorite Mona Lisa yet. Here's the backstory I've been brainstorming:
Child actress Ramona Elisa (celebrity name "Mona Lisa") lands a lead roll at age twelve for the Nickelodeon family sci-fi series "The Universe and Darcy Star." She plays an eccentric and enthusiastic Darcy who attends school on an alien planet where she is the only student from Earth. Often referred to as "Punky Brewster in space", it enjoyed fairly good ratings until, during filming of the second season, Mona is bitten by an oozesquito and mutates on set.
Terrified and a little feral from the transformation, she hides in the sewers where she's found by the turtles. She stays with them for a while and participates in shenanigans before returning back to her mother where she is surprised to find that she still has a job. The writers have written her mutation into the series and she continues her role as Darcy Star: mutated earth girl. The ratings on the show skyrocket and Mona Lisa instantly becomes the poster child for mutation awareness and mutant equality.
She continues to do the show until its last season of her seventeenth year. During this time, the turtles come in and out of her life intermittently. Including a time where they decide they miss her and break onto the set, crashing the taping of an episode. They end up being on the show for a few episodes. After the series ends, Mona Lisa emancipates herself from her controlling, abusive stage mom and moves to California to get as much distance as she can from her mother.
At age 21 she releases a tell-all memoir about her life as a child star, living under the thumb of her mother, about growing up as a young mutant girl, and about her brief time spent with four teen-aged mutant ninja turtles that she met in a sewer. The absolutely honesty with which she tells her story prompts each of the turtles to contact her separately when they find out she has moved back to New York.
