Yes it has many types of girls. Even some barely known one, like that chubby mechanic / engineering girl which we seen in only a few episodes and I've got a liking to since seeing her in the mobile game of 2202.

Sadly this anime never made it to Hungary nor even through Germany or Spain, when I was a child we don't have that much German TV channels to see it and none Spanish ones.

When I was little we had Captain Harlok but only in CataluΓ±a (the east part of Spain), alongside with Arale, Dragonball, Mazinger, SpeedRacer, etc... but thinking about it, was hard to me understand the plot when I was soo little, nowadays I can enjoy even more the story as much as the designs of the ships

Indeed, me too. WHen I was little mostly there were French cartoons like the every favourite Asterix and Obelix, and of course some russian and Czech cartoons, those were very good too, far better then the current "teaching" and semi-interactive ones like Dora the adventurer or Go Diogo Go....
Ever heard of the little small mole? Don't know if it was aired in Spain though

And there is the other old French cartoon of Sunken Worlds

This is really an eye popping color job. You've made some very interesting choices here.

The bright, pastel palette, and the use of bold fields of color combined with the brackish waves in the line art reminds me of old Japanese prints.

Was that what you were going for?

Thanks for the work, let me know if you want to color anything else.

Tzoli In reply to JohnStaton [2012-05-22 06:53:50 +0000 UTC]

Don't know
I darkened the entire picture first before colouring so the lower hull of red became more darker. The software I use have a very hard time adding darker colours to light surfaces. I really wanted that the lower hull have a dark red colour but as you draw it white the only I could done is a light red almost pink, but the light effect could solve it maybe. I also added glow for a better result

Let's see:
Different ship name: Argo Where the hell this name came from? There were never a capital ship named like this.
Different crew names and so on

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

JohnStaton In reply to Tzoli [2012-05-22 00:19:55 +0000 UTC]

Argo is the ancient ship of Greek mythology that sailed to find the fabled golden fleece.

The translator felt that American audiences wouldn't warm up to a Japanese ship, but they didn't feel they could just give the ship an American name, so they went with mythology.

There are many downsides to the translation, most notably the radically diminished body count by cutting out much of the personal violence, but there were some clever moments.

I for one preferred to idea of the crew drinking bottled water from Earth's last uncontaminated spring as opposed to sake. Beyond avoiding the taboo of portraying alcohol use on children's television, this change really accentuated just how far gone mother Earth was, and how humanity had come to cherish blessings once taken for granted.
