Was submitting work to Semi-Permanent and rather liked this layout
oh no.. you are one of those people that absolutely loves Helvetica?! haha nah that's cool. I agree that it works well & looks great, i'm not denying it but I'm simply against it being overused liken no tomorrow. No matter how good anything is, too much of anything makes it no longer unique and crisp.. brings it one step closer to being dull and boring.
There are tons of other good looking font families out there, why stick to one ehh

It is a good font, I agree! I just don't fancy using it ALL THE TIME as it is already fairly overused. There are many other good fonts, they deserve some loving too

I rarely use Helvetica, but when I do, I go for one of the variants. Not the regular font face, but usually helvetica light, or something similar. Makes good, readable copy font.
I think using Helv for things like logos is a copout, though.

Standard fonts in logos is a definite copout. Yeah I know what you mean, I have used Helvetica in the past and most of the time at work where everything is extremely fast-pased and creativity is not required : )
