Thank you! News of the next expansion makes it even more likely that my WoW characters will have to continue living outside the game!

yeah, I fell into the same situation with WoW myself, it just happens eventually, but what everyone should do (in that situation) is just remember the fun that was had and the good times, and move on. I still love all of my many characters, both horde and alliance, and I still love the warcraft lore, so they're still very much around in stories and pics and whatnot, and I love the idea of them outside of WoW too. great work

I still hold out hope that the game will change in a way that will make it appeal to me again in the future. If not, I'll always have the WoW universe and my characters to draw!

I did much the same. I remember starting the game some nearly 6-7 years ago in Vanilla WoW. Where I meet my now best friends, fiance and several others. I was a holy priest from lvl 10 to 80. I quit about 4 months after LK was released. I loved the game, my friends, and all of the adventures I've had since the original Warcraft games.
I still carry my original character in my heart. Because of her and the game I've had a complete change in my life a few times and she was there to help me. One day I will celebrate that part of my life with a tattoo but for now, I will remain with her in me.
Just keep your Glynnii with you as I keep my Lotus with me. We'll each have adventures on this side as long as we remain together. Even if it's not in Azeroth.

My druid and all my other characters will always be with me. As someone who enjoyed dabbling in RP, these characters go beyond the the game for me, and will always be a source of creative inspiration.
Thank you for sharing your story, and who knows...perhaps Blizzard will make the game fun again in the future, but I suspect the time for WoW has already come and gone.

I totally agree. As much as I'd love to play D3 I just don't see it happening with some of the things they've been talking about implementing.

Used to do that sometimes. I only play WoW again when the new expansion comes. Right now, I got other things to deal with than WoW...
Great work anyway.

I dont blame ya mate. Wow is kinda slow these days but mostly due to its a bit stale after so many years.
I still pay for my subscription though because wow has become my *relaxing* game. I go in whenever I want, do some daylies, pvp, talk to people and such. Thats about it.
I raid basicly now a days when I have the spare time, and the guild Im with are okey with that.
But other then that, I tend to prefer games with some more action so to say these days. Like Mass Effect, Need for speed and so on. ^^ I even bought......Amnesia..*gulp*.
And yes, wow still brings me alot of inspiration, and even though Im not much into the gameplay anymore. The characters, lore, races and such have always had a big interests for me......especially Draenei's ^^.
I'll keep ,updating with wow art, and I'll let ya know if something big in wow happens that might interest you and Glynni, hehe.

I miss being able to wander around the WoW world and just hang out in there, but that's about it, really. When the game ceased feeling fun, it was time to move on.
The idiotic thing is that it didn't have to come to this. Blizzard could have easily avoided killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, but they decided the game needed to change no matter what the consequences would be.
But as they say, it's just a game, and life goes on. The characters I created will always belong to me, and will continue their adventures through my pictures, and that's something Blizzard can't ruin for me!

I agree, nowadays the world is nothing more than a leveling area. There's barely any reason to leave the trade district, apart from when you need to go hunting for minerals or herbs which, at 85, you do in only 3 big fat areas. :<

I quite a few months ago. I wasn't logging on anymore and the game ceased being fun. I loved my troll rogue Lurena to pieces, but the game wasn't all the same anymore. I think it had more to do with the fact that a lot of my friends had transferred off the server and everyone rushed ahead of me. I had been playing since the original beta, and before that, I had played WC III. It was pretty hard for me to realize that it was over, as I still participate in an RP on the Warcraft RP forum (but it too is quickly nearing its end), and I'm still making the sketches for "What the WoW?!"
The game has given so much to me, and maybe one day I'll return, but for now, I have to let my account rest. I've turned my attention back to my consoles, and I've recently beat a lot of games in my library, as well as new ones. It's been nice taking such a breather from my computer. I know my characters from WoW aren't gone forever, as they are always there when I need them. So... Thanks for sharing this.

I think you mentioned an important point in your comment - I also had a lot of friends who suddenly disappeared near the start of Catacylsm, and that was a big impact on my fun in the game. That and the changes in direction that the game took made me feel left out completely.
Ah well, it gives me a chance to play different games now, not to mention a lot more time to work on more drawings!

I've heard the same story from almost EVERYONE! I quit WoW after 4 years at the beginning of the year, Cata just seemed to ruin it, it wasn't like BC or even Wrath... IT just felt half assed and as if they were just giving up on the franchise, I will always love the old lore, the characters, the people I played with, and the time I was on there. But I felt as if It was just time to move onto a new game.... I can't fucking wait for Star wars TOR to come out.

I was very unhappy with the direction that Blizzard decided to take the game in Cata. It felt like they were catering to a smaller group of players, rather than make the game more accessible like they did in WotLK. But it's up to Blizz to decide what they want to do, although I have to wonder if they've dug themselves into a deep hole now.

Oh they have... They are losing more players than they can pick up... Give it about 2-4 years, they'll be shutting it down permanently.

Awww, Glynnii looks adorable here! I love this. I'm so glad she has life after WoW! Like I told you before, I feel like my WoW days are coming to an end, too, and there will definitely be a life after for all my characters. XD I wonder if there's a group on dA "Life After WoW."
Glad to see some art again from you hun <3 looks lovely! ^_^

heh, I was just saying something similar - there should be a halfway house or a home for ex-WoW players. I love my characters too much to stop thinking or drawing them just because I don't play anymore.
To be honest, if Blizzard ever drops their hubris and makes the game compelling and fun to play again, I'd probably go back...

I've already started work on Glynnii's next adventure. This one will be epic and something she won't be familiar with at all.

It's amazing when I think back to the last 5 years and how big WoW was a part of it. Heh, I was way too involved with it, but it gave me lots of creative inspiration and I met a lot of nice folks, so it wasn't a waste. Thanks for commenting!

I met a lot of good folks on WoW. It was a really fun game until the lovely patch and cataclysm. After that, it was too easy and not a challenge. There was no more working together and just more selfishness. So it's become more of a pain in the arse than fun anymore. Up to this point, it was a great game. Glitchy and painful but there was a challenge.

I'm happy to just draw WoW, rather than play it these days. If Blizzard decides to make the game fun again, I will be happy to play it, but that seems unlikely.

Well I am not entirely sure what happened in my absence but I do know that things started to go down hell Since the second expansion, though the dungeons in WOTLK were fun, they lacked the challenge and the sense of progress, hell the whole end-game lacked the sense of progress.
However from what I saw, the 3rd expansion is just recycled content from vanilla wow, it might be great for newcomers but for old players is just not good enough, many of my wow friends are either shifted to RIFT or waiting for Guild Wars 2 (which is a game I am actually interested in playing).
