Well the first time I looked at it I thought it wasn't as good as I'd hoped but its such a big book that I really need to look through it many more times to properly soak it up. I liked the running documentation of some of the characters, I love the nudity in it but I feel like such a voyeur! It being published in book form makes me feel like thats acceptable though. Its just all so "real" that it makes me feel almost sad... Maybe. It has a strange effect. Totally on the other hand ... I bought my friend the British fashion photographer Tim Walker's massive picture book for her birthday and we were looking at it last night and jizzing over the whole scrapbook design and impossible scenes... he just totally bowls me over. Who are your favourite photographers? I haven't seen many books, they're all pretty damn expensive

What do you think? I am pretty impressed I have reminded you of her by the way!

Hehe, well I think it's not that astonishing that I thought of you, if even you bought this book among so much other, i guess you can relate to her work !
I liked the book so far, even if I have to go through it again... You did nudes, so I'm a bit astonished you are shocked, but yes, some are pretty explicit. The book form has a very personnal approach tho, being lonely in front of it maybe you are right, things are more acceptable.

About my favorite photographers... Well, I tend to buy a lot of books, I'm kinda trying to find my "masters" Books are expensive but so useful. The work of nan Goldin is impressive, for sure. I think that Araki (who's even more disturbing) is one of my favorite. There's a lot of nudes too, but... Something ifferent happens, cause I'm really not turned on by them, so then tend to be a light mask for life, death and so on...
I've been very interested in Steichen and Stieglitz lately because I think they set up nearly all the trends we have now, they are "square one" more or less...
Helmut Newton is interesting, but didn't go as far, i guess, same with Jean-Paul Goude... I've been interested in Salgado too, but it's very different. Lately one of my main interest is Stephen Shore. His "american surfaces" are really interesting, I guess they can interest you too, and his book "the nature of photograph" is a must read !
What about you ? Some interests appart of Nan GOldin and Tim Walker (which I don't know well) ?

I forgot to mention Larry Clark, who's at the roots of what I'm doing now... You should take a look at his serie "Tulsa" if you haven't seen it !
