Damn! Looks so real. I wish I knew how to achieve this effect. May I ask how long you have been drawing to get to this level? Sorry if that is rude of me. I just would like to be able to do this one day as well.

I have been drawing since I was 6 years old. So almost 20 years. But you don't have to be drawing more than two to get to my level if you get good instruction and practice. The key to getting this effect is mastering values. In fact that is the key to drawing great pieces in general. Sometimes we try to draw things that require skills we haven't learned yet. Revisit the fundamentals an learn the values buy drawing simple still-life. I still have a long way to go also... Feel free to ask me anything and I'll do my best to give you good advice.

I have heard from others a few years as well. I used to draw when I was a youngster..but I have just started again a few months back. I would like to get better at realism so I can give my work away to family and friends. Manga isn't for them.

yeah, practice with still life and you'llΒ get there. Use photos as reference and pay particular attention to texture and value.
