Description -Vibrations: Megoki's most noteworthy offensive technique involves her flapping her thin inner wings while still concealed under the outer shell. The vibrations produced spread across the whole body in a few seconds alone, and when it does, little can withstand the powerful waves of high pitched sound. This makes an excellent deterrence technique, but it has offensive capabilities as well. When striking with her spined limbs and extended clasping tail, these vibrations exponentially increase her attack's potency, able to turn a glancing blow into a glaring one. Lastly, by opening her wings during vibrations, powerful tunnels of sound can be sent out in all directions, mostly focused behind her, doing searing ear, bone and organ damage to all close by. This can kill nearby humans, rend combat mecha in two, render kaiju temporarily deaf, and even knock them unconscious.

-Tough Carapace: Megoki's adorned outer shell is quite resilient even by insect kaiju standards, able to take many, many blows before showing signs of wear and tear. In contrast to this, her shell takes much longer to regenerate damage than most kaiju hides do, and thus severe blows can really count. During military strikes, it is common practice to target one point and to continue bombarding as close to that point as possible, usually near the joints.

-Cockroach Queen: An ability not realized until after her first encounter with modern man ended, and perhaps the most disturbing of all of her tricks, Megoki can emit powerful pheromones similar to an ant or termite queen, capable of luring in cockroaches of all sizes to her location. After her defeat in Tokyo, the ruined city became home to millions of cockroaches of species found all over the world, rendering it an uninhabitable, unsanitary wasteland. In battle, these cockroaches can aid in offense and defense, shielding their queen from harm, forming protective shields over wounds, even swarming over entire kaiju and mecha like a dirty brown tidal wave. Megoki seems to feel nothing for these roaches and treats them like tools, but they don't seem to mind.

Noted Weaknesses:

-Low Tolerance to Cold: The most exploitable weakness known to mankind when it comes to dealing with Megoki is her weakness to cryogenic assaults, which can render her completely immobile and inert. This is how mankind defeated her the first time, and it's usually worked since, founding the modern use of kaiju cryogenics in places like the Sheol Shoals.

-Vanity: The cockroach queen's personality is quite fitting for one with that title, vain and ugly. She hates things bigger and shinier than she, and will attack outright anything that outdoes her. Most notably on this list of objects that she hates is skyscrapers, which she will deliberately knock down and step on their remains until there is no trace they were ever there. Larger kaiju typically meet this criteria as well, but she is less likely to outright attack when in the presence of true juggernauts like Giganuuk.

Description: The first kaiju to emerge in the public eye in recorded history, the creature known as Megoki the cockroach queen is among the most well known of modern monsters. Often held high on the list of public enemy monsters with true terrors like Giganuuk, Triction and Helong, though perhaps undeservedly so, Megoki is single-handedly responsible for the destruction of one of the largest, most populated cities ever to exist. Granted, we were incapable of militarily matching kaiju of any size at that point, and had she emerged any later she would be one of many standard aberrations, but thanks to the special circumstances of her emergence she will never be forgotten.

Her first appearance in modern day is one that has been observed from every angle by military and research forces combined, and is often regarded as a textbook kaiju attack. It began in the mid 21st century, a small-scale construction project was preparing to remove a chunk of natural land in favor of future business developments, met with standard environmental criticism that while well intended was not completely well founded. In short, a typical day. But one blast of TNT changed that as they tried to clear a particular rock face. The earth seemed to open up in a grand scale no one could have predicted, and inside was a massive crypt large enough to store a small office building. The construction workers halted immediately when the dust cleared, for inside was a massive statue more than 150 feet high of a humanoid insect. The site became a worldwide sensation in the archaeology circles overnight, and many renowned experts, led by Dr. Abigail Cathcart, came to the location immediately. The statue, and the nature of the crypt, completely puzzled them, blew their minds even. The surrounding earth showed no consistency in age, many believed equipment was malfunctioning, and the statue contradicted everything they knew about the region's history, not to mention it was too big to have been made by early human hands.

As they rallied elsewhere the next night to discuss their findings, something happened at the crypt that would change history forever. It started when a gentle spring rain began to fall, nothing unexpected for the time of year, but the true nature of the statue quickly began to reveal itself as the earth, which was hard as rock, began to give way, revealing it was nothing more than a cocoon of mud, and underneath was a very much alive and very angry creature. Megoki was awakened, and she was not happy. She completely demolished the worksite and a nearby small town that night, leaving nothing standing. The archaeologists were then traded in by the government for the Self-Defense Force, called out for their very first legitimate deployment. Of course, as history dictates, they were no match for the creature, every effort to firebomb it ended with demolished tanks, downed jets and lost lives. The top brass began to intensely rethink their strategy, and developed a clever plan using what little they knew. The giant cockroach only really moved great distances at night, and seemed to follow light sources, which meant she could be manipulated. They set up a plan to drown the creature by instituting blackouts across all of the major Japanese cities, using a lighthouse and many spotlights to lure the creature out to the coast, where they would then strike it with everything they had and force it into deep water, where it would likely sink.

The plan almost worked, until a lone eco-fanatic broke into Tokyo's major power grid and flipped the switch, exposing their city to the view of the insectoid terror and ruining the SDF's plan, catching them all off balance. Megoki proceeded into Tokyo, and for three days destroyed much of the city, shrugging off SDF attempts to stop it and proceeding unchallenged until a surprising opportunity presented itself. When rampaging through an industrial plant, she knocked over a tank of cryogenic fluid, and the lower half of her body became immobilized. The SDF realizing they lacked the firepower to destroy the creature, decided to use icepower instead, and utilized jury-rigged helicopters to dump more of the cryogenic substances onto Megoki, freezing her near solid and ending her reign of initial terror.

The world was never quite the same after that. The UN took custody of the creature and placed it in remote Russia, where a massive cell originally meant to hold nukes was converted into a cryogenic prison for the insect. Kaiju became a legitimate fact, and many more would emerge shortly after that. Tokyo, unfortunately, had to be condemned, with capital powers transferred back to Kyoto, but not for the reasons people expected. Within weeks, the city was home to the biggest infestation of cockroaches ever seen, gathered to mourn their fallen queen, it seemed. They remain there to this day, leaving the city a filthy wasteland, but now their monarch is among them, and there she is at her strongest. Years later, after kaiju coexistence policies were put into place, Megoki was released in the middle of Old Tokyo to thaw, and has lived a contented life there since, though occasionally she breaks out or has to deal with an intruding force. Most of the kaiju of Japan avoid her, Gumoto sneaking in to prey on her larger children, (some of which are big enough to be kaiju themselves) and Kabukhan the solar beetle, who seems to share a bit of kinship with the fellow insect, being the two major exceptions. Yakai is one of the few native monsters she seems reluctant to approach, the electric monkey is capable of intense bouts of ferocity and seems, to an extent, to frighten her. The military of the Niipanian government is especially wary of her passionate hatred of things bigger and prettier than she, and keep a trained eye on her in case they need to remind her that they have beaten her once, and they can do it again.

This confidence is well-placed, but still, they cannot help but remember how at one point, this one rather average monster made us feel small again.

Statistics

Height: 55 Meters

Length: 85 Meters
Wingspan: 75 Meters
Weight: 55 Kilotons

Abilities/Noteworthy Traits

-Bad Vibrations: Caused by rubbing her massive Tegmina (outer wings) together. Serves moreso as a defensive ability, even able to weaken energy attacks, but collateral damage on nearby structures and its deathtoll on human populations have made it noteworthy as domestic danger.

-Extendable: Offensive in nature. Flesh between chitin plates are capable of stretching surprising distances, especially the forelegs and tail. Can increase maximum attack and grappling range by an estimated 40 meters.

-Hard Shell: Defensive Plating composed of a super-dense chitinous substance that regenerates fairly quickly and dampens attacks of multiple types. Primary reason for noteworthily above-average stats in combat despite its size.

-Cockroach Queen: Most iconic ability. Possesses a pheromonal control of all known Blattodea families, including several well documented kaiorg species that pose a real danger to domestic human development. They can be sent to do her bidding and often highly aid in the acquisition of her victories. In event of swarm, Phoenix-Level Firepower is authorized.

Personality: Megoki's mannerisms have been studied longer than the vast majority of known earth-based kaiju, and is the subject of many a thesis. As any kaijuologist worth their degree will tell you, the title 'Cockroach Queen' is referring to more than just her complete dominance over all roach kind. She carries an attitude that could only be called Royal, and not in a positive manner. She possesses a revolting, remorseless sense of hubris towards all things smaller than she, and a vain, intense jealousy to all things larger, both often facing her wrath in short order.

Fighting Style

-Vs. Kaiju: Megoki is not what you would call an honest fighter, often using every trick at her disposal to shatter an enemy's defenses, and will often send her larger minions to charge them for her while she finds a way to get at them from a more advantageous angle. She will rarely, however, stay in battle long enough to severely endanger her life, especially when in the presence of far larger creatures. It seems, as most of her conflicts on Terra Monstra have shown, that she more fights other kaiju to prove that she is not to be trifled with, and will rarely seek out an opponent herself.

-Vs. Mecha: Megoki's attitude towards mechanized force can only be described as dangerously aggressive, often disposing of units with methods that even the most liberal of kaijuologists and commanders would call overkill. One theory for this is she is perhaps vainly defending her perceived beauty from the mecha and their reflective plate armor. This is further proven by her disinterest in smaller, less metallic models such as the Phalanx.

-Vs. Militarized force: Megoki seems to enjoy conflict with conventional military forces, often taking extra, unnecessary efforts to physically step on as many vehicles as possible. But, with the advent of more powerful weaponry, she is less likely to attempt this for fear of exposing herself to harm.

-Vs. Multiple/Mixed Opponents: Megoki rarely engages in combat like this, so study is almost nonexistent, but what cases there are show that she seems to only act when thrust literally into the middle of such squabbles, and will rarely stick around for long, often using her minions as a distraction so as to slip away. It is believed that this seemingly contradictory to her personality behavior is due to her preferring squabbles she knows she can win.

Weaknesses

-Physical: Megoki is a hardy kaiju, and can handle most conventional and energy based assaults, but her weaknesses are known and are applied. Like many monsters, she does not fare well in extreme cold. Cryogenic weaponry, most notably Jotun Class Bombarder missiles, are practically her bane. Her smaller size compared to many monsters can often serve to her disadvantage as well.

-Mental: Megoki's attitude towards other life makes her predictable in most cases, and it is not difficult to set up a trap to lure her into an attack.

Finally got another one of these done.

After speaking with some friends on the matter, I've decided to update most of my old files for Dark Hours rather than solely focus on new ones. I will be bringing new concepts in on occasion, mostly as they become more 'complete' in my eyes, but for large part I'll be sticking to getting old ones done.

I thought about drawing and coloring a new picture for her, but that was quickly put down. I really don't picture her any differently from this image from early this year, and though I did clean it up a bit and refined a bit of the shading and color values, it is essentially the same creature. She is one of the many monsters that is captured and help on the terraformed landmass called Terra Monstra. Generic, yes, but logistics demand generic things sometimes.

Anyway, enjoy Megoki's new home, in a much more organized file gallery. (Viva la Sub-Folders baby!) I have no idea who I'll do next, it depends on what designs seem the most complete to me, I s'pose.

Wait... did you make all of those fonts yourself?
Because if you did, that's amazing!
I'm observant!

I still ship this girl with King Roach so hard. Their personalities just bounce off of one another so well.
We must work on their KAS shenanigans!

I wish I could say I did, I picture lettering for my art in my head so clearly, but I am unable to do that at this point. I usually download fonts off of this site: [link]

I find the ones that best fit what I'm going for, make sure using them carries no legal consequence, and download. I have upwards of a few dozen to choose from.

Indeed, those two need to have done something by now...

They are pretty similar, form-wise. She'd probably try to knock that shiny horn right off his head, though

Probably. You should humor her similarities with a later cyborg version, though.
