Description As time still properly eludes me, I've decided to get what art posted I can when I can rather than wait and focus heavily on getting a full bio done. This is a concept image for another monster to appear in the Stormback universe, called Reaoc, or Rokura in Japan where it appears initially. Its a pyrokinetic monster with avian qualities, and technically fills in the Rodan/King Caesar niches of the roster, at least partially.

Unlike Stormback, whose design is influenced by suitmation, Reaoc's is influenced by the most modern method of monster portrayal to date, motion capture. With pieces of Suitmation and Stop Motion combined with the latest Computer technology, Mo-Cap has given us some remarkable creature performances and its hard to imagine it not being used for a long time to come. It seemed fitting to make the creature somewhat humanoid in build, but long and lanky. I wanted it to have that hunched, almost pained posture that the Eva Units possess so well, and this pose was a rough attempt at that. Looking at it I see some places where the short, pinion coat of feathers should have ended or would have better served with exposed muscle alone, but regardless, this is only a concept and I'm posting it to see what people think first and foremost. That said, whatever thoughts you might have I'd love to hear them, this guy's design is definitely in need of some further tweaks.

If you're trying to emphasize the hunched Eva look with mo-cap influences, I would suggest maybe having more curves in the small of the back, the knees and the elbows to give that feeling. Just an idea

It's one of the most weird kaiju I have ever seen design, and I like it. It's better than Clover's, that for sure.

Thanks Jake, its good that you like him despite him not being so traditional. I consider that an accomplishment. And yeah, Clover... was lacking a few key traits to really sell itself as a monster.

Well, Jared.

Yeah, that design is pretty lackluster.

So friggin lanky and bizarre. What.. is it? It looks like a human bird. But I can so see the Eva lanky-ness that I grown accustomed too. God I love this thing.

Glad you like him. He kinda is a bird/pterosaur/man thing, actually.

It's looking good so far. It sort of reminds me of an orangutan from its lankiness. Perhaps there is something to be found in that?

Orangutans may actually be just what the doctor ordered to make him look more organic. Thanks.
