Well, it's not a symbol of islam, but the arabic character for "love". It has nothing to do with islam
I painted cultural symbols (and not religious ones !!) from different countries on purpose: I'm French and catholic, with Indian origins.
I live in Reunion Island, which is a French multicultural island.
We were very shocked and saddened by the terrorist attacks in Paris, and we respected the national mourning as any other French region.
I drew this a long time ago but thought it would be the right time to share it, to remember what being French means to me.
It is not a matter of color, gender nor religion. It is about the French values and way of life we defend: Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité !
