Description Personal piece.

------------------------

Watercolor on Fabriano cold pressed paper, 9"*12" (final version cropped).

=================
Edit:

Okay, I didn't expect this to receive so much attention – it's literally becoming one of my most popular pieces.Β  Thank you all very much.

However it does seem a bit curious to me, since it's the only darker-themed piece I've done so far...

It's a really strong image. I just hope you know how much people has been steel it from you, not just reproduction-drawing like it happens a lot of the times, but products.... A certain writer literally made a cover book, saw it on instagram lately. If she make money from it, never had your permission to use your work, don't give you any merit... it really suck. I send you the link, maybe you can do something about it.Β www.amazon.com/Lies-My-Mind-Te…

Already have the same issue with one drawing, found it one day on ipod case and t-shirt logo without obviously my signature.. never been so angry.Β
Have a good day anyway, and keep up the great work xxΒ

Ah thank you very much for letting me know this. I realize that the particular concept of this picture may not be that original, and I wouldn't be surprised to see images that look somewhat similar. About that book cover, the author had actually contacted me and I gave them permission to use it. However that was the only time I allowed someone to use this image, so if you've seen it elsewhere don't hesitate to let me know. Have a nice day!

Hello, someone else already requested this picture for their book, and I gave them the permission to use it. I wonder if you mind that your book has the same cover as another book?

I very often feel this way and I would not be able to describe it any other way than to show someone this beautiful image, plus, it is painted so well in a medium I love: it can be the most expressive and intimate, I think. I absolutely love working with Fabriano paper too. I'm a paper lover and go crazy over it. You're so skilled and talented to be able to make such a striking work such as this. Of all the thousands of images I have been looking at today, this is the one that I am taking the time to comment on, and I'm late for an appointment too. You should know it is not just perfect in its application, but it's intelligent and moving. You've connected with your viewer. It's brilliant. And I love the drips. I hope you haven't sold it yet because when and if you do, you should ask a lot more than you think you should. Β

it's pretty amazing and emotionally relates to people, like the gap in the art is the gap for the viewer's mind...I don't know if i'm making sense to anyone

Veronnikka In reply to weirdkidd7art [2016-11-07 21:23:30 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Yes it does make sense (at least to my understanding), that what's left for interpretation in an artwork actually forms the strongest connection to the viewers.

I agree that the balloon is a metaphor for something else that's gone.

As a 4 year old child I was bought a beautiful multi-coloured balloon, the best one that the balloon seller had. Β My joy and happiness in holding the string and looking up at the myriad of amazing colours was destroyed in an instant when a gust of wind snatched that balloon out of my hand and out of my reach as higher and higher it went. I felt desperately helpless - totally bereft. bereft.

Whatever the balloon represents to the girl, a lost love, a failure of something important in her life, the balloon becomes a powerful symbol of loss.

The more I looked and the more engrossed I became I realised that this is one of the best works of art that I have seen in a very long time. Β

Excellent work in capturing futility loss and despair.

I imagine that the reason why it is so popular is that it is mysterious.
I feel that it tells a story. There's a lot of emotion that his conveyed by the girl's body language.
You wonder why she is so upset about the balloon. What the significance of it is. And possibly if the balloon is a metaphor for something else that's gone.

wow so sad.Β I can feel the moody atmosphere.
It kind of reminds me ofΒ the time I lost one of my first balloons. I didn't think it would just float away, but when I looked back it was wayΒ out of reach...that was such a terrible feeling.
(probably no the point of the piece, but I just wanted to share of whats going throught my head while looking at this)
Epic-ly done!!

Haha, when I was drawing the balloon I kind of expected someone to say that.Β  Of course, it's not meant to be that literal.Β  Something happened and motivated me to create this piece.Β  But what I lost was more than a balloon.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Veronnikka In reply to VeronikaLozovaya [2014-08-03 01:16:37 +0000 UTC]

I'm not selling prints right now mostly because my stuff generally don't get much attention...and I'm only painting for fun, so I was thinking about waiting a few years before I make art a more serious business.

"Veronnikka" is not my real name. (I just liked the name "Veronica", but apparently someone got it first so I had to change it a bit.)
