Description Another IR shot

the texture the wind created for the sand looks like contour lines as if it's mapping out the whole universe on this beach's surface.
Enjoy

Thanks for =crazy1ady for helping me w/ the post processing

Nice one. I particulary like the effect of the grass. Its looks like a blast in someway. Just wish the framing would look a bit better. It deserves it

Fantastic shot, too bad you have the sunflare in the image and the grass looks a little soft. I love the rippled sand and the boats under that interesting sky Kudos to you and I see lots of others enjoy your work as well.

there was wind at the beach...and it was a long exposure shot so yeah...the softness of the grass i think would add to the movement of the wind and create an illusion.. ...
thanks for the comment

Well, ain't that a jiff.
very very neat,
care to explain, briefly what IR is? plzzz

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

vietkatthroughlense In reply to SC11 [2006-07-25 20:38:30 +0000 UTC]

hehe sure

well IR stands for Infra Red Filter. It helps block out visible lights, those that you can see w/ your normal vision, like greenery of a tree...blue of a sky...ect .... through IR filter it blocks all those out. It likes a night goggle of some sort. When you take a shot w/ IR filter ...it came out red usually...if you don't pre set the white balance ... then when you're in post processing...and turn it to bw or in IR effect ...you'll see dramatic changes effects on trees and sky... what used to be green and blue now becomes white and black ...the vegetation of the tree is white... like you saw in my 'Invitation' ...and when you shoot w/ IR since it's a thick dark red filter...you need to shoot it w/ long exposure as if you were to shoot at night...that's the basic..

For me, the mood of the photo seems to be one of desolation ._.

Good composition =] I like the movement/flow of the photo. Still loving the IR effect

Yeah! i feel the wind i like the shoot .. but i have to give my critique :

Having someone in the frame .. maybe a little bit far ... with the wind in the hair ( like yours.. ) maybe would had humanity to this shoot.

Im not sure about the flare... at first look i tought it to be cool.. more and more i look at the shoot.. i would like it to vanish. Did you use a lens hood?

Of course those are my personnal tastes.. and im not sure i fully know the constraint of IR photography... what did you notice special? any Apertume limits? any special Exposure/light needs?

Dont let go the eggo! continu youre improving quickly with IR.. i stay a pure neophyte

vietkatthroughlense In reply to IpNextGen [2006-07-25 20:31:03 +0000 UTC]

nope...no lens hood. well w/ IR it's recommended if not required to use longer exposure from 1/2 to 30 seconds ...because the IR filter is very dark...it is as if you're shooting at night...iso needs to be a little higher than normal...cause of its 'night' condition.. aperature ofcourse has to correspond to exposure time so it won't be off the meter..

its the only question why people create the illusion of Gods and Goddess like creations for things the wind.. The wind effect is a wonderful thing seeing we don't see what it gets created from, rather the effect is the only aspect seen. The cause is a mystery, and yet the effect is silently and yet beautifully misunderstood. A simple, and easy to digest title made this piece a wonderful shot to look as you captured the ambience of what the wind's effects were doing to the outside world as you had taken such a nice shot with your camera.

I really like the lighting and how it creates this imaginary leading line from the top left down to the bottom right with the sun flares inbetween. There's an eerie feel, yet it's a good one and the tones along with the composition help. What I really like are the boats out in the water and the juxaposition of the sand with the plants to the right.

I'm not a big fan of IR, it often forced into a context where it suppose to be used effectivley, but this has a context of it's own, a dramatic one, who rather enforces the method of ir instead of justifying it, and I really like that speact of it, added to the pot that it's a sweet shot I'd say you did a good job here well done!

holy cowww this is amazing. it really does look like another planet. i love the contrast between the soft movement of the grasses and the definition of the sand. and the sky is beautiful as well. it's such a great IR shot because, although i haven't seen much IR really, the shots i have seen have all kind of looked the same...but this one looks much different. it's beautiful, strange, foreign...and near me! i love it, for sure.
