Description I couldn't resist ironing another another Seascape with Dolphin . Made this pictures as usual I'm using the iron to and hot molten wax to create everything from background to details.

As extra tools I'm only applying a small kitchen knife to scrape away excess wax and to work out small details, like animal eyes. Also I'm using paper tissue + q-tips.

From time to time to create round or square or other strictly geometrical shapes I use coins or other flat heat-resistent items of different size wrapped in tin-metal-foil (advantage -> a small foil-tip at the end to use a handle) which I'm heating on the iron first and placing the warm shape on the wax-picture afterwards (my own invention ).

Several years ago I did in fact experiment with the heated encaustic-pen. But the results I've got where dissapointing in my opinion (to much or too little wax + a lot of smudges and way too little control). But it did help me to get a better understanding and develop a better feeling for the principal flow of the wax.

So I decided for myself that I'll stick to the iron as main drawing-tool and to master it as best as possible. Years and lots of hours of practice later I know for sure there is next to nothing which you can not draw with the iron if you put your mind to it and never give up (still a long way for me to go).

I'm feeling as if I'm only beginning to get the first glimpse of all the possibilities the encaustic wax-technique has to offer
