Description My C96 Broomhandled mauser the most Pulpy of pulp guns.

From the Wikipedia
The main distinctive identifying characteristics of the C96 are the integral box magazine in front of the trigger, the long barrel, the wooden shoulder stock which can double as a holster or carrying case, and a grip shaped like the end of a broom's handle.

The gun's distinctive appearance earned it the nickname "Broomhandle" in the English-speaking world (from the shape of its grip), and in China, the C96 was nicknamed the "box cannon" because of both its square-shaped internal magazine and the fact it could be holstered in its wooden box-like detachable stock.

The Mauser C96, with its shoulder stock, long barrel and high-velocity cartridge, had superior range and better penetration than most other standard pistols; the 7.63x25mm Mauser cartridge was the highest velocity commercially manufactured pistol cartridge in existence until the advent of the .357 Magnum cartridge in 1935.

Approximately 1 million C96 pistols were manufactured by Mauser alone, with the number produced in Spain and China being large but unknown due to the loss, non-existence, or poor upkeep of production records from those countries.

If there is any gun more stylish and classy than the Tommy Gun, it's a Mauser! I'm not a fan of the huge stock attachment (aesthetically at any rate), but it's just a fantastic looking firearm. Heck, they even based Han Solo's gun after it!
I particularly like the Red 9 variant (mostly because it just sounds bad ass).

Well that's because with the stock you can be more accurate, but you can't twirl it on your finger cowboy-style when you put it back in the holster. (I know not to do this with a real, loaded firearm. Just speaking in a stylistic sense)
What's the manufacture date on your model?

I don't actually own one. I'm just saying that they have a very cool and iconic look, and if I had a gun, that's may be what I'd chose.

How much did you pay for this pistol ? I recently put a Bolo Mauser on lay away at a military fire arms store.

It does not have the ring under the handle, there are very small nicks and scratches on the wooden grips and the pistol Itslf Is covered In scratches all over the metal, I enspected the Inside and It was very clean, the hammer foes not wobble and the trigger Is firm. I paid seven hundred dollars even for It, would you recommend It ? I'm going to measure how long the barrel Is and how new the bore Is when I visit there again.

$700 is a fair price for them to ask, it's what I paid. Expect a worn bore and scratches, some loss of bluing and some pitting. These buggers should have no wobble as they were built like a swiss watch.

Check the internal magazine spring by removing the baseplate to make sure it's intact and check for damage on the groove on he handle where the stock attaches.

I saw the groove, It's In great condition and the Internal parts are shiney, no scuffs, I looked at the bore aswell and It's clear. Next time I visit there I will check the magizine and the springs. Thank you :L

ever heard of the mauser 712?

LoL, of course I've heard of the Schnellfeuer! They are badass guns, I own a replica of one with the removable magazine.

Truth be told it was a great upgrade from the C-96, but many C-96's are effectively machine pistols that will keep fireing if you hold down the trigger and don't release it.

Not that I'm much of a fan of sprayguns, I prefer semi-auto as it encourages one shot kills and the conservation of ammo.

Take the broomhandle off, stick a machine gun muzzle suppressor on the end of the barrel, and you've got Han Solo's blaster.

Nice gun!

Imagine how that would freak out people at a sci-fi convention? Actually open carry in a holster is legal in Montana...hmmm combat quality Star Wars prop

Head over to a Montana Star Wars convention, in that case!

Actually, making combat-quality Star Wars props is delightfully easy, since all Star Wars guns (in the Original Trilogy) were made by modifying real-world weapons.

Yeah I know but it would panic some....heh.

I'm building a Steampunk SMG out of a broken WWII Sten and a WWII Beretta SMG. Old broken guns make good props. I wish the new Battlstar Galactica would have bothered to cover the FN logos on their guns though.

Promus-Kaa In reply to vonmeer [2010-03-17 21:51:35 +0000 UTC]

True; you might have to keep the action open, like at a gun show. And of course carry it unloaded, hahaha.

Steampunk SMG?!? Awesome!! Can't wait to see it!!

The new BSG just plain sucks and the cheap production values abound, so it doesn't surprise me that they don't even bother to cover up the FN logos. Unless the 12 Colonies of the reboot BSG somehow also have Fabrique Nationale along with Earth...which is only a Cylon-populated world, which is the most retarded thing I ever heard...ugh.
