Sketch dump of an Art Design Trade with Desrteskimo with the character based on the Orion Nebula.

When I first began with the concept, I was actually inspired to draw a cool space baboon, and was really close to settling on that design. But, shortly after that idea, I switched to a more dog/horse/reptile thing(?) with a human form (keeping the wide but thin ribbon tail idea).
I was rather fond of the design direction, and had even started creating a lineart for it, but quickly scrapped it for various reasons. From there, I decided to focus on a more humanoid form with animal-like characteristics and switched the character's gender. However, I felt it did not suit the whole nebula thing, scrapping that idea as well.

Finally, taking elements from all of the previous designs, I created a more.... balanced(?) design and used that as my final idea.
