Air Colossus

Here is my entry for the Rift 'Create a Colossus' contest (link to news article here: [link] ).

This Colossus is able to swallow vast amounts of air, storing it in its throat sac which expands to quadruple its size when fully inflated. Through various pores and exhaust outlets located in its fins it is able to redirect air currents around it enabling it to move through the air. Alternatively the Colossus can create devastating gusts of air by forcing all the air out in a single exhale. Additionally its head acts like a lightning conductor and it stores the electricity to be used as a source of energy as well as enabling it to use lightning to fry its foes.

So yeah, I know I stand no chance of even competing with all the other amazing entries out there and it certainly doesn't get many points for originality, but I'm content. Having been busy and generally distracted from investing more time into my art I hadn't been able to finish a single proper painting in over two years. So when I happened to stumble upon the Rift contest announcement I decided this was a good time as any to try and get back into things.

Not sure what else to say. I'm just happy I managed to make it before the deadline (though barely). Thank you deviantART for this challenge and the opportunity, I really needed this. Thank you to everyone who still watches me (I don't know why you would as elusive as I am on this site) But I'm ever so happy you still do

Critiques are encouraged; they helped me so much on my last painting and I'm very thankful for them!

Time taken: Approximately 3 weeks on and off (~60 hours from concept to finish maybe? I am not very efficient...)
Tools used: Painting in Corel Painter Essentials 3, touch-ups in Photoshop CS3, Wacom Intuos 2
