A few months ago,I saw this video about an imperial version of the Nebulon-B frigate made by EC Henry: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz13rw…
Now I like the idea about the Neb-B actually looking more like a ship and less than a left-overfrom Thanksgiving, however I really can't wrap my head around his explanation about why the Neb-Bs from the rebels look like they've been stripped. Therefore I thought I'd put my own head-canon to the test and retcon what I always imagined to be the reason, starting with the creation of the basic model of the imperial version of the Nebulon-B that actually entered production.

EDIT: had to re-upload the file because some of the meshes were missing while others which are actually just for measurement purposes were rendered.

He meant that several levels and armor looked like they where removed from the design, that's why it appears so exposed and thin.

And once you see what I'm already working on right now, you will see that this isn't actually required. And that it doesn't take much to turn this skelleton into a relatively normal looking spaceship.
