Taken in Robsart, Saskatchewan, this is the front edge of a prairie storm that caught me totally off guard. The front was moving very fast and after taking this picture I turned around to try to get it crossing the street behind me. That effort was not successful, so I moved down the street to another location to try and get the storm front there. At this point there was no rain and even the winds were light. After I had gone down the street some distance, I came out from behind the shelter of a building the wind hit like a wall almost knocking me over. Very soon afterwards the rain and hail began to fall. I quickly looked for shelter, then moved into the wind and rain to capture the final pictures I wanted.

In the process I got fairly wet, but I was able to protect my camera. Fortunately my partner arrived in time with the truck so that I did not have to take the shelter I had found.

After I got into the truck, the full fury of this storm hit. It was quit impressive in its violence, but thankfully, short lived.

won an honourable mention at
The World Wide Gala Awards,
in the Country Landscape Category 2012

A total of 41 artists were selected from among 282 photographers from 46 countries. 39 were awarded Honorable Mentions from the WPGA's Jury

Entrants were able to submit up to 25 images.
"Who Has Seen The Wind"
was the only image that I submitted to the contest.
