Description Dad had purchased a Polaroid instant camera to get this picture. It was a rather amazing invention at the time. The picture is too old to have my youngest sister in it. She wasn't born for nearly three years! The house is long gone, but the memories of Christmas is still fresh in my mind.

I am on the bottom left and am around six-years old if I figured the year of the photo correctly.

My husband was born in the same year, too. I had a neighbor who was born not just in the same year but the same day! Several of us on the street were all born in 1951. Must have been a good year!

Is that Sherm with Betty on his knee? Looks almost like Noah!

Yes, that is Sherm. Now that I am looking at it, it does look like Noah. Janice told me that the picture is probably from 1956. She said judging by her own age, along with Betty's, puts the picture at 1956, so I need to change the date.

WOAH! That is a gigantic family XD So 4 girls and 4 boys, I gather?  Nice equality there!  I have 2 brothers, and sometimes it was difficult being the only girl, lol.

Mom had four boys first, then just 11 months after the youngest boy was born, my eldest sister, Janice, was born. I came along about 5 1/2 years later, then the next girl was born about 2 1/2 years later, then the last three years later! An 18-year gap between the oldest boy and the youngest girl made for an interesting dynamic at home!

Wow o___o lol how did the 18 year old brother feel about a baby sister?  I remember once in middle school, a 13 year old brother was asked about his baby sister XD He said "I wish my mom would stop having babies"

My eldest brother was SO embarrassed his mom was pregnant his senior year he asked her not to attend graduation

He left home for the air force after graduation, so he really didn't know her that well until she was older.

I have a friend who has ten children. I met a woman traveling from South America at Riverside Resort and she brought her eight children! Cannot fathom the cost of that trip!

Your comment reminds me of a story my friend told me years ago. She was the proud mother of ten children and had taken a passel of them to the library. They picked out their books and trekked back home. Shortly after, she received a phone call from the librarian. The librarian asked her is she was missing something. My friend looked around confused and replied that all the books taken out were there. Then the librarian explained my friend had left one of her kids behind! She learned to do a head count after that

LOL!  I've never heard of that actually happening! XD Only in cartoons have I seen it.  I would think having so many kids it's bound to happen sometime!

At least my friend got to her child right away!

Coming from a large family myself, I would be dropped off somewhere then wait hours to be picked back up. Sometimes it would be dark and I'd be scared before my mother remembered and came to get me. When I got a bit older, I would just walk the couple miles back home but it was frustrating to be forgotten. I remember those times like they happened yesterday rather than over fifty-years ago!

Oh man, that must have been rough!  I always thought it would have been nice to at least have SOMEONE to go to when I was fighting with my brothers XD like an awesome sister.  But that would mean more siblings!

Personally, I have a small family. There is just the three of us now, since Christopher passed away in 2001. We are all close, though, and are thankful to have each other.

I do remember having the picture taken. Dad had a hard time getting us to pay attention to him! My oldest brother and youngest sister are 18-years apart (she isn't in the picture, since she wasn't born yet!). We are all still alive and enjoy getting together when we can. We are spread around the country, so a reunion has to be arranged to bring us together!

Being from a large family has been interesting. And the family is rather huge since children have had children who have children.....
