Love that red dress, and the hats are all fabulous! I've made my first wizard hat. Chase was a Potions Master Wizard for Halloween. I entered him into a contest too:
Potions Master WizardChase has gotten super into comics since we've taken him for his first visit to a local comic book shop, Amazing Fantasy Comics. For Halloween Comicfest 2014 we entered him into the costume contest, which is now open for voting. Grand prize (2 winners, one adult/one child) will win a $500 comic book shopping spree. Second Place is a $100 shopping spree to 50 random entrants (five adults/five children for each category). And finally a sizeable comics prize pack selection to the voter's picks (five adults/five children in each category). Voting is now through November 9th. Chase is in the Original costume category, he isn't a specific character, it was his idea.
Vote for Chase
I followed a tutorial for his wand, which Reignson / silverbane did the paint job. He also blacken

Voted! His outfit is absolutely adorable. My son used to like to create his own costumes. I would sew what needed to be sewn and he would create the rest. I actually made a few costumes for his friends back in the day.
My sister-in-law Fubelle bought hats for her costume and mine at the Halloween store where she lives in central Ohio when everything went on sale. I took some tissue paper and stuffed the tops to keep them standing up! I bought the witch hat Tina AreteEirene is wearing at Cracker Barrel Restaurant. I love the store there!

Linda looked truly scary! She spent like twenty minutes just putting on the makeup. It was a hoot!
Afterwards, we went to the Outback for dinner and we stayed dressed up. Linda was walking into the restaurant when a group of guys talking just outside the door just stopped and stared at her. Without a pause, she said, "don't ask" and they burst out laughing. We weren't the only ones dressed up either. It was Ladies night out for the Mennonites, and we got talking to a group of the ladies and told them all about Halloween and how popular our neighborhood is due to people becoming actively involved.
There were quite a few Mennonites there that night, which surprised me. But what surprised me the most was that they were drinking. I did NOT know Mennonites imbibed. When we were talking to the ladies one said she couldn't wait to order a Bloody Mary! If I wasn't sitting secured on the stool in the waiting area, I would have fallen right over. I must have had a look of shock on my face. We eventually were all seated close together, the six ladies in an over-sized booth and another eight of couples next to our tall table near the bar. All the men had a tall brew. In all my years I never realized Mennonites, who are just a step-up from the Amish, drank anything but water and juice. I've known mormons who don't even drink anything caffeinated, let alone anything stronger, but I suppose it is however people are raised, and apparently the Mennonites have nothing against alcohol.

I really don't know. Where I live there is a heavy Amish, Mennonite and Old Mormon presence, and so I interact with people of varying faiths and life styles all the time. I am just not sure of the basic rules for the Mennonites.
I get a tickle out of the Amish shopping at Sam's Club. I cannot help but look in the carts to see what they are buying. Usually giant bags of flour, sugar and M&Ms!! Also, they will buy $100s of dollars worth of batteries! So then I'll think to myself on the inside, "Geesh, just get electricity for crying out loud!"

I just watched the video not long ago! Weird Al's videos are on You Tube, so I watch them now and then (boy do I miss the old MTV, where I could see decent videos).
Linda thought the Amish didn't use guns and I looked at her like she was nuts. I just replied, "um, Linda... they HUNT for their food! YES they use guns!" Electricity? No. Guns? Yes.
There are several areas in Ohio and PA that are mainly all Amish, so the roads do not have electrical or phone wires installed. Just a clear view as far as the eye can see. Sometimes I'll see a porch painted powder blue, which means there is a daughter of marriageable age within the home.
We've been places, like Cedar Point, where a bunch of Amish teenagers will show up on a bus, go into the restrooms in their every day clothes and come out wearing jeans and T-Shirts. It is a really weird sight!
