Description Stitch was my buddy. He would curl up by my side when I was on the laptop in the living room and just purr since he was happy just to be by another living being. He let me brush him, didn't make messes and always used the litter box, which is a lot more than I can say about Simba and Ming, since Simba seems to dislike litter boxes and Ming isn't happy unless he is creating a mess. Every day. Simba and Ming aren't any less loved, they just like to make their presence known, like Storm who is more noisy than anything (he wants outside alot).

Stitch really liked being outside, too, so it was lucky the kitties had been kept inside for days due to Hurricane Sandy smashing into a nor'easter creating high winds and daily rain in NE Ohio. The reason it was lucky is that Stitch passed away on the kitchen floor inside instead of out in the wooded area in the back. This way we knew he had passed and could take care of him instead of realizing he simply disappeared.

This picture was taken just days ago when he got on the bed and made himself at home. He loved sleeping on a bed, especially if someone laid down with him for a nap. He was only 13-years and had belonged to our son, Christopher, so Stitch was our last vestige to Christopher, who passed-on 11 1/2 years ago. In August of 1999, when Stitch was just a kitten weighing ounces, he was being abused by the boyfriend of a friend of Chris'. He snapped Stitch up and brought him home, which wasn't the first time Christopher had saved an animal from a situation that may have resulted in early death for the animal.

My heart is just broken. Stitch didn't appear sick in any way, didn't lose his appetite nor was he fussy. He simply walked into the kitchen and dropped over. He had some blood coming from his mouth, so we think he had a stroke, which would be a reason he passed away quickly. Bless his heart He will truly be missed.

Since he passed away one of our kitties got an infection and had to be hospitalized (he is much better now) and just recently another kitty had a run-in with a Raccoon (we think) and got bit and ended up at the vet's. Even on the porch the kitties can have run-ins because animals come right up and knock on the back door wanting fed. As much as we try and keep the kitties inside they tend to sneak out!

Oh I know from experience how quickly they can get out!
We've had many cats over the years at one time we had 7,
now we only have 2!

Oh..
I really am very touched by your story
i am really sorry for his loss. I Love cats very much and i am very sensitive about animals.
When i was a kid, i lost many kittens.
I know that the feeling is very heavy and the bondage between people and pets is much more stronger.
And this is not good for our mental and physical health to fall into depression.
For this reason, i have decided not to adopt any other pet again.
I just only like to see other people's pets.
I hope time will completely heal your pain.

I am still shocked. Stitch just had no symptoms of an illness and simply passed away. It is so hard to say goodbye to loved family members, which include pets.

So sorry hon to hear of your loss, a shock for you I know for him to go so quickly and unexpectedly but at least he didn't get sick and linger for a long time in pain. I know that is only a little comfort. Pets leave the biggest holes in our hearts but they are so worth it

WDWParksGal In reply to DragonDew [2012-11-03 22:56:18 +0000 UTC]

I am so thankful he didn't suffer. We have had pets who got quite sick and lingered, but Stitch lived fully up to the last minute of his life. He was a joy and a part of the family. He is missed

Yeah I know the feeling. We were getting ready for church one sunday, and my brother went out to feed our dogs, Stars and Stripes. And he came back and told dad he couldn't find Stars. She had just curled up by the bushes and died sometime in the night.

We never saw it coming either.

The same thing happened to my dad's dog years ago. He was coming home from church and the dog was laying in the driveway. Dad honked but the dog didn't move. He got out of the car then realized the dog had passed on. Thankfully, my husband and I showed up shortly afterward, so my husband could help dad pick up the dog and bury him. The dog was quite large. He never showed a single sign of illness

So sorry to read of your loss Phyllis. I know that words of comfort dont help the ache that is in your heart right now so you must take comfort in knowing that you gave him the best home, comfort and love that was his whenever he wanted or needed it. Its sad that he has gone but thankfully it was sudden so the pain he would have endured was short. He will always be with you in your heart.
