Description Sewing Kitchen Accessories
Linda had purchased quite a bit of yardage of this hen material that matched her kitchen beautifully but hadn't done anything with it. When visiting at Thanksgiving I ended up staying a few extra days because there was so much to do. Part of what I needed to accomplish was making the cafe curtain, cabinet curtains, mixer cover and tablecloth. Linda's neighbor had painted on the kitchen cabinets several years back (see the bottom picture) and the material kept with the theme.

My laptop shared the glory on the table

Personally, I don't really eat chicken... or eggs for that matter (food allergies) but can say this kitchen looks pretty good!

I'd be afraid of all of them eyeing me every time I sat down to eat chicken lol

Yes, that could be a drawback! My sister-in-law has all sorts of Roosters everywhere. I bought her some salt and pepper shakers I found and her neighbor painted roosters on the cabinet doors. I guess that isn't any different than me having Disney stuff everywhere!

lol I guess everyone has an obsession, my mom's house is done in beachy themes like sea shells and light houses and my walls are covered in egyptian papyrus paintings and dragons and peppered w/half finished work

In my half bath is a lighthouse theme. My kitchen is like a diner ~ [link] ~ Take a look at my bedroom.... [link]

we have a kitchen and a dining room, the kitchen is all blue and white w/lighthouses, the dining room's fairly plain and boring xp my mom, my dad, and the bathroom in the guest room are all done in various sea shell and sail boat motifs and the living room is done in palm trees, my brother's room is blue and cream w/a sea creature theme (he has a ginormous blue crab mirror on his wall). . . my room's the odd one out, lol, not a sea shell, sea creature, or palm tree to be seen I really want to re-paint my white walls but my mom's totally against it lol

You know Ruby rolled in the cabinet curtain so much she broke the pressure rod. Bad kitty!

Dag dab it! She'll just break another one! Little turkey..... I guess they can be stapled into the inside of the cabinet edge but I'm afraid she'll just rip them off.

Maybe we can figure out a way to velcro them or something. She is a pistol.

WDWParksGal In reply to AreteEirene [2009-12-24 19:35:28 +0000 UTC]

That would work. Do you still have those long strips of sticky velcro? We can try that.

Dad's national meeting will be mid-February, so we'll be down to celebrate your birthday then I'll stay there while he is gone.

AreteEirene In reply to WDWParksGal [2009-12-26 05:08:47 +0000 UTC]

I've only got a little bit of the velcro left; I used most of it to put up the Ethernet wires.

Well, we'll either get some at Sam's or Staples. I'm sure one of the office stores will have some.

JoAnn's sells it as well, or maybe it was Hobby Lobby I saw it. The crafts stores usually have it. I've only seen the heavy duty stuff at Sam's.

I like the hen/rooster theme. I remember I went to a house with the same theme in her kitchen and she painted the walls bright red. It was beautiful.

I bet it was. Tina would have congratulated her on her "bode use of color" but have to say bright red looks great in both kitchens and dining rooms from what I've seen on HDTV shows!!

I like the combination of Red in the kitchen/dining and light brown in the living room.

Wow! I wish I was neater at sewing. My stuff is always raggedy and off in so many places.

I often have to even up the material as I sew. I don't particularly like to sew but I do a bunch of it!

I do more craft sewing and cross-stitch but I would love to try and make clothes, even on a miniature scale.

WDWParksGal In reply to KV-Arts [2009-12-21 12:44:04 +0000 UTC]

I love doll clothes. A neighbor I used to have would make beautiful doll clothes on commission and would charge $125 for an elaborate lace dress.

She made Tina's dress in Tina's new ID. She has moved a few times and I've lost track of her after having her as a neighbor for 25-years!

Clothes aren't very hard to do. If I can make them anybody can. I made a coat once with matching pants. I've made jackets, dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, costumes, fur stoles... gah! I really dislike sewing......

I want to make some Pride and Prejudice dolls (2005 movie versions). And some leprechauns ^^ Got plenty of plaid for that (What the monkey is up with plaid being SO popular now?! On St. Pat's NO ONE was in plaid! 'cept me).

Do you use a machine? I think that might be easier to keep things straight and even. I hand sew and it is never straight and even But my funky stitch works for the Jack Skellington dols

WDWParksGal In reply to KV-Arts [2009-12-22 23:17:55 +0000 UTC]

I use a machine. There are some things I have to sew my hand but usually use the machine, even for button holes!!

I'm not sure why plaid is so uber popular right now. I have noticed it in the stores!

It's all over the place. Not a fan of the checkered-like plaids. Been looking at scarfs on ebay though
