Description
This was inspired by Southern Comfort by Albion19, which gives a brief but rather hilarious account of how the Doctor might have ended up with a certain long brown coat previously owned by Janis Joplin. The scene being illustrated:

"Many hazy, happy, hours later Tegan found her way to the Tardis. Turlough was already there, slumped against it fast asleep. Someone had tied his tie around his head, and he was painted as vividly as his hair. As was she.

She looked for a sign of beige but couldn’t see anything in the morning air. Tegan jumped and let out a squeak, as a pair of arms where wrapped around her waist. A sickly sweet smell enveloped her. She could feel a mouth on the back of her neck, smiling. She turned.

The Doctor was benevolently staring down at her, his hair dishevelled. A long brown Trench coat was slung over one shoulder. The surprise was quickly replaced, as Tegan broke out of his grasp, with hysterical laughter. The Doctor continued to stare at her unruffled, whilst still looking ruffled.

“Oh my God, you’ve been… replaced… by a p-pod person! What have you been doing?” She nudged Turlough awake, but he didn’t seem any the wiser to the Doctor as he swayed upright.

The Doctor gave her a 'well seeing as how you didn’t care to have my company, you’ll never know will you?' look, that made her want to smack him over the head. The Doctor smugly made for the door, ever so slightly unsteady."

Poor hungover Turlough, he's gonna be peeling for weeks after this, and a tanned Tegan will delight in teasing him about the peace sign still visible on his face after he washes off the paint. (Or she will until the Doctor takes pity on the Trion exile and fades it with the TARDIS' dermal regenerator.) The Doctor's own sunburn will fade soon after he sobers up thanks to his natural accelerated healing abilities, but he will blush bright crimson when Tegan later catches him humming a Janis Joplin song in the console room.
