July likes to play up his country boy image, and loves every chance he gets to show off his southern drawl. He's here to win and his competitive nature is nigh unmatched. He was very much a spoiled child, and if you look closely you can tell he was born with a sliver spoon (and still has it). He's never had money problems and really has never had to worry about anything really. Most everything in life has been handed to him or has come naturally. But that doesn't deter his competitiveness. He loves being the center of attention, and will always be the one who'll key up the crowd. He generally doesn't have a temper, nor does he get into quarrels. The only time you can get him angry or upset is if you damage that damn southern honor or if he feels he's personally hindered himself (such as a buckoff or poor score). Unlike the rest of my characters July is a traditional conservative in nature, tending to lean that way in most of his opinions. His ideals reflect that: be competitive, buy American, keep your guns close, and be a gentleman to the women. Not that it's a bad thing, but that being said he can be a little narrowminded in some aspects, and a little self-centered (again, that's not meant to be a jab).
. Strengths: Can sit extremely well on a bull that bucks left.
. Weaknesses: Hand tends to get stuck under bull's strap.
. Interests: Fine livestock, good bbq, and crazy country parties. He's the stereotypical cowboy: camo, trucks, Garth Brooks and all that. It was instilled in him at birth.
Backstory:July is a charmer - you have to be when you want to win. And that's definitely why he's here: for a world title. He grew up among cattle and with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father is a modern day cattle baron in Texas, and July and his three sisters grew up on the rodeo circuit in the lone star state. College never even crossed his mind - with his connections and talent, it didn't take much more than an application and proof of his previous rodeo winnings to get into the PBR at 19. A few years and a few cash prizes later, he's made it to the pro tour, part of the top 50. He considers himself a small town country boy, and likes to keep that image (truth be told, the first time he left Texas was when he joined the PBR). But he's adaptable and he's taken quite a liking to the bright lights and fast cars. But you're constantly reminded of his heritage every time he talks: he has a lazy, rolling, southern drawl that's obvious from across the room.
July started rodeo when he was very young, first sitting atop a horse when he was less than a month old with his father. He had his first pony when he was 6, and started riding the sheep at the local fairs soon after. It wasn't long until his father knew he had a prodigy on his hands, and July graduated to bronc busting in his teens. But he wanted a real challenge, something to get his blood pumping (yeah, he's an adrenaline junkie). And the longer he looked at those bulls, the greater his competitiveness grew. He was going to be a bull rider, and that was that. His mother, of course, was/is terrified for her little boy, but his father couldn't be more proud (and brags every chance he gets - not to mention his son's publicity has only increased the profits in his cattle business). Two of July's older sisters seem that they couldn't care less what they're brother is doing (okay they're pretty stoked about being able to brag), but his younger sister loves to see her brother when he rides. She wants to ride bulls too (much to her family's chagrin), and is always happiest when the PBR comes to town and she gets to hang with him backstage. July's older sisters are horsewomen: one wants to go pro barrel racing, and the other works at a western training center. And both of them have NO problem picking on their younger brother, even if he battles 1500 lb bulls for a living.
His given name is Gentry, but he hates it (it's a family name - old money, old name). He more frequently goes by July, an ode to that summer when he was 6 and first premiered his sheep-riding skills at the Lockhart Rodeo, winning the July Cowboy of the Month award (it was adorable, I assure you). The name stuck and has only furthered his appeal as the small-town cowboy.

I would love to see a rodeo group! I feel like it's not represented enough in the HARPG community, and I could definitely go for drawing some cowboys. Also I love the name Gentry, holy shiz.
