To those of you who followed me for something OTHER than Dexter's Lab fanart I promise I will draw something else....eventually! But DL fanart is quick and just too fun, and lately I've had a whole lot of ideas.This is actually a little illustration from my Ego Trip fanfiction, where Mandark and Dee Dee go on their first date. I wanted to try my hand at the vintage Hanna Barbera style used in the flashbacks from the movie. I love how those scenes looked, and it's a fun challenge to draw the characters in a different style. Between your Dexter fan art that looks straight out of the show and your gorgeous Fooled designs, I must say you're insanely talented! A good writer as well. I know there will probably not be a Core sequel but I live in hope, as it was an incredibly good read. The characterizations were on point and even though he's evil in it, I enjoy any well written Deedark fics I can find.

The style looks like "The X's" cartoon.

Really? I've never seen that show! This was based on old HB or UPA cartoons.

I know that. But I'm talking about the style from the Nicktoons series "The X's," which kinda looks like the style from the opening and closing credits of Pixar's The Incredibles. That's why if you look up The X's and the opening title of The Incredibles, the style looks pretty much like the kind you used here.

That's something I've really come to admire about the mid-century Hanna Barbera type of art, how you can create so much character with so few lines!

tbh as much as i ship main deedark i have a thing for dee dee being uninterested in exec mandark. (cuz i hate exec mandark. fucking onceler lookin asshole.)

Yes I feel exactly the same way, Dee Dee x Exedark is a terrible combo. (So I draw it as often as possible lol 
And Exedark was first, so Onceler looks like him!

i honestly dislike pretty much any ship with ego trip mandark. ego trip kind of takes away any remnant of soul he has in the mainverse (which isn't necessarily bad, but it just kills the appeal)
in 2015 i made a joke scribble of exedark as onceler. they even both got a little ginger enemy ;0
