   Marvel woke me up a few hours later. The sun was rising up slowly and I was just in time to see its first rays light up the forest. It looked amazing. The others were still asleep, me and Marvel being the only ones awake. I could tell he only woke me up to show me this. I would have gotten angry, and at first I did, but then I was grateful. I had seen a lot of sunrises back in District 2, but this was different. I felt like it was real. Pure nature. I knew I was wrong, of course. But I still found it beautiful in a deadly way. And fascinating at the same time.
   "What is it?" I heard Cato mumble lazily and I turned my head with confusion. I saw Glimmer, wide awake with eyes as wide as the sun itself, poking Cato next to her and pointing at the beautiful scenery. I turned my head with disgust, feeling the rage inside of me, but the warmth of the new day made it go away and I could enjoy this once again. I looked around with amazement, only to see everything bathing in this beautiful sunlight. The shadows of the trees grew large, the wind was calmingly cold and everything was quiet. Nature wasn't the only one enjoying it. We were all awake and staring at it with amazement. Julia, the girl from District four, was sitting up calmly, watching with a smile. Her black hair mixed in with the colors of the sun and reflecting them back. Glimmers hair looked like the sun itself. Now I knew why Cato was staring at her at that moment. But then his look switched onto me. His golden hair was turning an orange color, his blue eyes staring right at me, absorbing the light and showing it the way the ocean looks like in the morning. We stayed like this for a while, silence, until I turned my head back to the sun for one last glance and got up.
   "Come on. The games don't wait for anyone." I said coldly and began to pack up my things. It a few minutes we were all up on our feet. I guess I wasn't the only one with a knot in her stomach, since all we could eat was a fruit or two before giving up and continuing our way. I could feel something wrong. The forest just seemed too… calm. Too peaceful for the games. It was normal. My paranoia was noticeable and soon reached everyone else, jumping and preparing to attack at the smallest noise. Even Lover boy was a bit jumpy. After a while we saw it and my troubles doubled.
  "What's that?" Marvel asked, pointing to something with his spear.
   "What's what?" Cato said, bored from this. He seemed like the last person in the world, who would trouble his mind with that. But he gave it a glance before turning away with a look, saying he thought of Marvel as an idiot. Then he turned his head again with a frown, his eyes narrowed to see it better.
  "It that…" He began to walk towards it slowly.
   "What is it?!" Glimmer ran after him. Julia and Lover boy were close behind. Me and Marvel stayed behind a few steps. I turned to him, puzzle and a bit angry that I didn't see what they all saw.
   "Marvel?" I walked towards him and stood right next to him, trying to follow his eyes and see where they were pointing at. I still couldn't see anything when I heard Glimmer scream. That was our call to bolt off after them. That is when the smoke appeared and the heat struck me. It was a fire.
  Glimmer was screaming, looking like a scared animal. She kept twisting, looking for a way out of the little cage that was build around us. It was agony. The heat was excruciating, the smoke choking us from inside, but what felt the most humiliating is that we actually let ourselves get into this trap. We had fallen right for it and now it was a matter for minutes before the flames or the lack of air kills us.
   "This way!" Cato yelled and jumped over the flames, running towards a random direction. But it wasn't random. I remember the way. He was running towards the lake. Glimmer seemed confused from his action and shook her head. You could barely see Catos figure from the flames, but you still see him yelling for her to step towards him. Finally she agreed and landed in his arms. It was time for the rest of us. But in just a second they flames looked like they were up to the sky and we refused to go. What to do now?
  "Follow me!" I yelled when I saw the flames open a brief window of opportunity to escape and ran for it. Marvel was close behind me, of course, but Julia and Lover boy needed a second to follow. Just like that, we lost each other. Julia was trapped in cage, Lover boy in another, Cato and Glimmer and me and Marvel in separate. Our little group was torn apart and now we had to fight to get it back, with two people in a circle at the most. My first reaction was to run at the only space I could see opened. And it worked for a while until I heard something crack behind me and turned around, only to see another wall of flames right at my face. I pulled away, a few hairs burned from my forehead and looked around. Marvel was gone.
  "Marvel!" I yelled with all of the voice I had in me, but it wasn't enough. The flames were getting closer, the smoke suffocating me more and more on the inside and now I was all alone. I knew what I had to do in situations like this. But I felt something I never thought I would for another tribute – concern. I was afraid I would hear the canons and see him on the ground with his face burned off. That mental image scared me, but the fact that I was even worried drove me insane.
  "Clove!" I recognized his voice and I felt relieve like a cold bucket down my back. Now all I had to do was get out. Easier said than done. I looked around, but another window never opened. And if it did, it would close as soon as I approach. I had to get out. My lungs were burning, my head was spinning and I felt like my skin was melting. Then I saw a window, half opened. It was another wall of flames, but it reached up to my knees and I could easily jump over it. But if I did, I would leave Marvel in that cage next to me. I didn't know if he was still there, but judging by his previous actions he would be dumb and stay there to make sure I get out. I felt like I needed to do the same, for me and for him. But the people at District Two would not approve of this. And if I wanted to come back as a winner I needed them to accept me with my decisions and actions, past or present. So I did the most painful part of the day – I jumped over the wall and left Marvel behind. As soon as my feet touched the hot ground, windows opened and I could easily run past them without a problem. I felt like my own feet were on fire when I saw the flames grow less and less. I could see the lake from here. It was right there, just another run away from me. Julia, Cato and Glimmer were already there, soaking in the water with relieve. I don't know if they cared for us, but Catos eyes kept searching the forest behind him, with Glimmer and Julia glancing back a few times. To be more honest, I didn't care if they wanted us dead or alive. I wanted to make sure he was alive. I turned around and began to search for him with my eyes. The heat was now leaving me, every slight breeze was like a gift from above, but nothing would stop the fire, raging inside of me. I wanted to find him. I needed to.
  "Marvel!" I yelled, taking a few steps towards the fire, but the slap that I got from the heat made me stop and continue to scan. I saw a glimpse of dark clothing and begged to be him, but it could have been Lover boy as well. I yelled out his name again when I felt something on me and suddenly I was on the ground. My instincts kicked in and I tried to pull away, but when I sat up and saw Marvels face, ashes smeared around his lid up grin and his clothes burned with the flames, I felt nothing but relieve. The laugh escaped my lips before I could hold it back and my arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him towards me. He laughed with me, his hands meeting behind my back, one of them stroking my hair.
   "Thank God you're alive." I heard him whisper in my ear, making me grin.
   "What'd you expect?! You need someone to keep your lazy ass alive!" I said with a hint of sarcasm, but it only made him laugh and pull me closer. It felt like a lifetime until I pulled away, standing up and running towards the lake with him behind me. We jumped in, splashing the water around the others and making them laugh and great us like this had been just another regular stroll. It kind of was for us, but I still would have never forgiven myself if he had died in there.
   After a while of just soaking in the cold water, we got out and continued. We had to run, trying to get away from the flames as quickly as possible. We made sure they were far enough so we could walk and continued with a normal pace. Our lungs were still burning, our voices hoarse like we had just woken up from a deep slumber. It sure felt like it. But what surprised us the most was when Katniss Everdeen, the girl I wanted to find the most, found us first, calling up from a tree. We had a slight 'conversation' before Cato began to climb up with his sword, ready to bring her down. I knew he wouldn't be able to climb it and I was right, making sure to drag me and Marvel behind as Cato fell on his back, a wind of dust and leaves flying up. Glimmer scoffed angrily, lifting up her bow and trying to shoot her down. A failure, of course. I wondered why she even carried it around when she couldn't use it.
   "Oh, let's just leave her up there. It's not like she can go anywhere! Let's just deal with her in the morning." Lover boy said, out of the blue, but we all agreed. We hadn't noticed, but it was going dark. I guess we had troubled ourselves with the flames too much to notice. We all ate near the fire, glancing up at her nervously from time to time, to make sure she was still there, of course. But Peeta was right – she couldn't go anywhere. The flames would bother some people, but we had to start a fire. Other wise we would just stand there in the cold and that would be just ridiculous. Julia took the first shift, Cato and Glimmer after her. Before turning my head, I glared up at the girl and begged she would turn in her sleep, fall down to us with broken legs and scream with fear as we slowly killed her. I wanted to kill her so badly, it would kill me if I didn't. I laid my head down, staring into the darkness, chewing my lower lip with excitement. I had to calm down to actually go to sleep, but what helped the most was feeling Marvel near me. He was a step away from me, but when I would turn my sleep, I could feel my fingers near his. Caught up between the dreamland and the real world, I would often tangle my fingers in his, but one of us would turn and break up the knot. I didn't mind. I would get to fully sleep tonight and I tended to enjoy every minute of it. While I could.
