Description Folklore says that at Beltane (sunset of the 30th of April), The Seelie court of the fae takes power from the Unseelie court. This year, we've experienced unseasonably strong winds in the British Isles since Beltane, which made me think that perhaps the Unseelie courts was reluctant to stand down this year, and thus supernatrual battles, invisible to mortal eyes have been raging.
As a child, when I saw the wind whip and ripple through meadows of long grass, or fields full of cereal crops, I imagined that the disturbance was caused by fae knights fighting. That , and my love of Asian cinema, and the tense standoffs much used by directors such as Akira Kurosawa & John Woo inspired this piece.

This is amazing. So powerful! Will you colour it?
Thing that bothered me with ''legend'' is how it claims that while one Court rules, other holds no power..but how it works with different hemispheres?

Very classic, and lovely details. If the weather is going odd on a solstice (for the Holly and Oak king) or Beltane/Samhain all that comes to my mind is that the change of rulership isn't going over too well this time around.

Thank you, and the weather here has been unusual of late, the jetstream is significantly further south than usual

Amazing piece of art. And I really like the theory of the Unseelie court struggling to stay in charge.

Thankyou, given the way climate change is affecting the world, it made me think that maybe the battles between the courts at Beltane and Samhain would be all the fiercer.

I really like the perspective on this... and the amount of detail you got into the clothing. What really is cool is the dagger that's in color...

Thanks. Part of the inspitarion came from a plce a few minutes walk from the house I grew up in, a field that's sometimes left to fow long for hay, with an old oak tree at an old field boundry, a very faerie 'between' place.

This is one of the best pieces of work I've ever seen from you. Speaks volumes and volumes in just one picture. More please!

Thanks mate, that means a lot. The natural world inspired this one, let's hope inspitation strikes more often. I've contacted Darren over at the wandering soldier to enquire about a sycamore polearm.

Just because a fae's Seelie, doesn't mean you can trust them

Beautiful. I love the design of the dagger and how it's the only colour spot in the picture.

Very tense indeed, and I love the intricate details.. O_O

thank you so much. If you look carefully, you'll se the bindi/caste-mark on the female faerie's forhead is red, I wanted to have only two sources of colour in the picture.
Oh, and thanks for the fave too.
