Description
Another relatively simple one focusing more on realistic scenery, accurate lighting and blending of elements. I've been trying quite a few new techniques and while I was tempted to keep going with this, I've learned not to overdo it and bury the piece in excess additions. It took me the longest to warp the arm of the girl on the right. It was originally just hanging to her side so I spent a few hours to get it looking accurately bent

This one is so eerie looking, yet has that calm country feel to it. I love how you got the balloons to fit so casually into this, tho they are brighter than the rest of the piece, you made them work wonderfully.

I really love this piece. The idea, the composition, everything. The texture is a nice touch and doesn't distract from the main elements of the two girls. I like the tones you added. It's almost like IR? But not quite. Has a very vintage feel to it. I really like it! It's not overdone and doesn't look fake. I could actually imagine picking this up in a dusty box off the shelf of my mawmaw's house (grandmother! :B) My only critique is of the girl's arm. Now! I can tell you spent a lot of time doing that part and it DOES look very good. My only thing is that in a photo, when you bend your arm there isn't a line coming all the way around the elbow. I think that if you smoothed it out and maybe moved the hand part to the right a tad and took out that part of the white line it'd look more natural. But it does look good as is. And that might take a lot of extra effort. But that's my take on it! Otherwise, I love it. The colors are so simple. Just some pink, blue, brown, just so few! But they work so well together. The blue is a lovely hue and doesn't take away from the pinks or browns. It just works. And I love how their hair is so bright and blonde. It doesn't stand out and look bad or out of place either.

The arm was my biggest challenge in this! I will definitely try your suggestions and see if I can create a more realistic look to it. Since I didn't have a reference, it was a pain in the butt to simply imagine what it would look like so having those minor details pointed out really help since they make all of the difference. I'm also thrilled you noticed the hair and think it doesn't look too out of place. The girl holding the balloon actually had dark brown hair in the original photo and the other one a dark blonde so it took some time to get their hair to be the same shade of bright blonde which helped incorporate them more with the background. The original background photo is actually an IR photo, I just did a lot of post processing to it which brought out some extra contrasts that are typically lacking in IR photography. Soooo, now it's more like IR with a twist

[link] Took me forEVER to find an example. But can you see how in that image the line doesn't come all the way down and cut off the rest of her arm? It doesn't have to be that far out to the side but just to keep a little to show it connects I think would help?

Yeah, that's a good reference but upon looking at it, I'd have probably just find a whole new arm with that angle since it would be impossible to rotate it outward. Since you would see an arm with the line all the way down if they were holding the balloons that close to their body, would it make much of a difference in changing it? I only ask because it will be a pain to find an arm that looks similar enough to attach to the girl's body. I'll definitely put the effort in if it really just doesn't look good the way it is
