Description This is probably my faved picture at the moment. it really defined how much i need to learn and progress, but shows how good i am at the moment. you all know the feeling. thinkign your not good at a certain aspect of art but wish you were good at it. This Picture of my favoraite nintendo character link was orriginally in my scraps but i decided to make it into a deviation and focus on the best bits of the picture. I kinda lost what i had with shading. i leave too much white on the page because i was always afraid id make the picture look bad! at first when drawing this i was very worried, it didnt look like the twilight princess link at all[SOON TO BE THE BEST GAME IN THE WORLD] so i was scared that the shading messed it up. but when i carried on, thought about tone and texture it tirned oput pretty awsome. just shows u can do anything if you really think bout it.

Btw done with a HB and 9B pencil, i dunno why but i needed to use alot of dark tone. [PLESE DONT FUL VIEW!>_<]

I love all the stuff in your gallery, but this one is one of my favorites! (and not just 'cause i totally dig Zelda) The shading is really well done and gives the whole thing a lot of dynamism.

it's always interesting to see where creativity will take you; i've often taken a phrase and watched it blossom into something beautiful, but you can watch yours become a beauty of form, and in that i envy you, in my own small way...

yeah, my art has started to greatly improve now since i know what to do. even if it is as good as you say, and i agree, but you need more tonal lines to define his hair more, and something's wrong with link's left side of his face (link's left not our left) i cant describe it quite well. it just seems rather curvacious. anyway its more then what i could do, so keep up the great work

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wumzum In reply to Shivasoul [2006-08-16 11:59:59 +0000 UTC]

I actualli think that side of the face was the best part with the shading idea, the onli problem was the otherside of the face didnt suit it:S but thanks. and see your rt is getting better. dont stress so much, just get better.

well I am unfamiliar with your art style but I like the picture so I couldn't say where you had improved or gone down hill. I knew this though, it was tight and that was all that I needed to say about it! I think I will keep an eye on you and see what you do next. I added that pic to my favorites.

heh thanks alot. thats the type of encouragment i need right now, i havent even ffound my own style yet, but rest asure i will have in the next month or so. heh tight is a cool word

TheGentlemanOfYore In reply to Wumzum [2006-08-16 01:48:04 +0000 UTC]

I know you hav heard someone say "tight" before. It is all over the place. I can tell by your obvious talent that you will be developing your own style. But it is good that you are starting by understanding the styles of your betters and contemporaries. The only way to become truly great is to expose yourself and learn from other peoples art work. I have no doubt that i can expect great work in a very individaul style soon.

You know, you've really got a point. I can't tell you how much I learned in english in high school, and I'm sure it's no different in the visual arts.

I would guess not. Take a look at this young artists work. I ahve seen a marked improvement in his work. It has amtured to a where I can see his work becoming truly great. I was told this about exposing yourself when I was younger and since then I do so constantly. I find it both stimulating and inspiring.
