He’s trying to get to her although he is standing right there besideReaching out to hold her and wipe away the tears she cried
His hand can not touch her; he simply slips right through
And she doesn’t even seem to notice; he’s standing there in the room
She walks to the window; tears streaming down her cheeks
Eyes burning red, from all the pain she has seen
Whispering softly to anyone, into the dark
To send him back even though it’s too late to
Mend her severely broken heart
He screams out her name but she doesn’t hear a sound
And he tries to make her see him but she flings herself towards the ground
Remembering the headlines of the paper; Local Boy Dies
She lets the tears rain down as quits fighting for her life
Muted cries from her lost love; as he pounds on invisible walls
Trying to rescue her from herself; tries to break her fall
Ghostly tears he cries as he looks down at crowds filling the street
To see the broken hearted soul who admitted her defeat
He hears a whisper, oh so faint, it’s his love who awaits
He looks to see her there again, her tears are faded for she’s with him
In the morning everyone cares; the parents are crying and they’ve blocked off the upstairs
