Description Just a quick crappy placeholder sketch...

Sorry I've been away for so long.  I seem to have been infected by Mallsoft.  It's....done...something to me.
Not sure as of yet whether or not this will require medical attention, but I seem to be stuck in slow motion, walking through a dying shopping mall in 1987.
Will report back as soon as this clears up.  Thanks for your patience!!!  0_0;;;

I made the mistake of googling mallsoft

what is this new side of the internet I've never heard of?  Fascinating!

That's exactly how I felt when I found it!  XD
I love it, and yet I'm creeped out by it.  Something about the muzak has penetrated my brain and liquified some of it, somewhere.

but I wasn't even born in the 80s or 90s......weird!

I was born in the 70s, so the samples this stuff is made of is pretty nostalgic for me.  XD
Sooooo cheesy!  Maybe you just like cheese!

By the gods, Mallsoft?! You poor, brave soul. You need Regular Ordinary Swedish Mealtime to counter act the effects!

Weit.....whaeeeeeett?  @_@;;;

I'm a few years late to the party, but vaporwave in at least a few of its forms might become the new voices in my head...Owwwwww.....!

ROSMT is a great show. Check out youtube, you will lol and simultaneously be disgusted. XD

Y'know Vaporwave actually eeries me out a lot, too. They use these...I dunno how to describe them but, they're echo-ee blue and black sounds and they make my back feel like I'm falling backwards into nothing. Like nightmares of being weightless and suspended in a void, how they manage to make me feel panic like I'm about to fall of a steep cliff, I have no idea but haha it happens. XD

When it comes to similar music the one thing that I did find that I really enjoyed was something called "Beyond the Minds Eye" that's super old and just like, showcases graphics made in the 80's (maybe 90's?) and it was kind of a fun watch. Not scary stuff stuck in your head.

I spent the weekend exploring all that vaporwave has to offer and deciding what I could take or leave from it.  Mallsoft and Future Funk are the winners, though I'm a little annoyed with the idea of straight up stealing Japanese disco tracks, altering them in no way whatsoever, RENAMING THEM, and repackaging them FOR SALE.  I will not pay Yung Bae a single cent for stuff I could probably find moldy old first generation CDs of within a 10 minute walk from my house.  It's probably the only time I ever felt no guilt whatsoever in hunting down torrents for.

Aw I didn't know they just yanked other artists stuff and re-purposed it for sale. That's total crap. D: I don't blame you for finding torrents first, I would too if they were ripping stuff from other people.

Some of them do.  I have no problem with DJs using samples - at all.  I used to love early house/club/dance DJ mixes that dropped samples all the time, and still do!  I think if they're creative with them, it's fine!  A lot of those Future Funk creators DO actually manipulate the samples they use to the point where they make it their own thing, so I appreciate that.  It's only a few of them that just use other people's records and call it their own thing.  I still love listening to their albums, but I'm going to definitely find the original artists' albums and make sure I have a real copy, too.    This is a fantastic video talking about how to make a Future Funk track, and he shows exactly how he throws down a sample and manipulates it in a creative way!  I love how this guy does it.  I think he's doing it right.    There's even a Mario 64 sample mix in there!  www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfYPH9…

I have never known this much about Funk ever in my life. Haha this video is awesome. (By the gods! This guy uses FL studio! HAahhaha I haven't used FL Studio in a million years! XD) Great now I've got the DDR version of Funk Soul Brother stuck in my head.

Yeah as long as you find the original artists work as best you can, that's the best anybody can do. I have mixed feelings about the music, but the way I end up liking a song or soundtrack purely comes down to what color the music is, and if it doesn't hurt to watch/listen to. (Hahah Synnie problems el oh el.) So, I might like some funk and I might hate it, for me it's all just this fluid wonderland and I'll figure it out the instant I hear the song haha. Still, I' agree with you, this stuff is hella creative. The video shows just the small piece of work this guy is doing to make a track. Imagine doing something for like, movies or a whole album. (I did catch the Mario 64 sample!)

I would kill to be able to make use of Fruity Loops, but I'm a Mac user, so....no dice, sadly.  I know there must be an equivalent, but if it's industry standard, there's no way I'd be able to justify spending the money for it.  All I ever wanted to do was add a booming, four on the floor house beat to the Sanpo song at the beginning of Totoro.  Oh man have I been wanting THAT for years and years!  I'm amazed nobody's done it yet.

Oh that's right, I forgot about hardware differences. I don't know if there's a cracked version of FL for mac or anything, either. Yeah one thing I noticed is that everything is marked up on Mac. Xp That's no good. Hey, if you ever find a way to do it, you should post that on Youtube.

I suppose I could see if Garage Band was ever improved to let you import music and play with the pitch and even out the timing.  FL can do that, for sure, so vintage tracks like those 80's disco songs can be wrangled under control.  Otherwise, there's no way I'm going to even attempt to hunt down something major like Cubase...which I would not know how to use even if I tried.  Sequencing is not something I can do at all.  I just don't have the math brain for it...or the discipline to stick with studying how to use it.

I've never used GB before. I think I have friends that have but, I've never really talked about it with them so I couldn't tell you anything about it lol. Huh, never heard of Cubase before, sounds complicated if it requires a lot of math to do. (I can't math either, XD)
