I've been wanting to draw some scenes from the 2012 cartoon in my style, so there you go
I loved how this episode showed that Raph was too emotionnal to be a leader. He is an excellent second, but leadership is not for him - Donnie showed to be more suitable than Raph in crisis. But it was soooo cute how he hugged Mikey in the end, he was so scared, poor one.
Yeah, coloring style in cell-shading because i can't waste too much time on these drawing. It's a good exercise, though. It's maybe a bit dark? (yaaaaay I did a background)

I think the Nickelodeon episode is New Girl in Town.Β Leo, disgusted with Raphael's harping on how bad a leader he is, gives over the leadership to Raph and meets Karai for the first time on his way back to the lair.Β Raph, Donnie and Mikey wind up taking on Snake Weed in the sewers, and Mikey gets hurt.Β Raph panics (not a good leader at all), and they hustle Mikey back to the lair so Splinter can take care of him.Β Raph realizes his mistake, that he is a protector, not the leader he thought he would be, and how heavy a burden leadership is for Leo.Β Once Mikey awakens from being unconscious, Raphael grabs him in a choke of a hug, realizing how awful it would have been to lose Mikey and how grateful he to have Mikey back.Β From that point on, Leo was leader, and Raph, the Muscle, a follower - there to protect and fight, but not to lead.Β
